I'm pushing 60 years old and I finally admit that it takes everything I have to carry my Mark V combo up and down the stairs at home, at practice, and gigs. I really want to get something significantly of lighter weight. The amp sounds so good though, that I don't think I'll be satisfied...
The Mark IV had a recording out jack that my friend used to go direct to the mixing board instead of micing the amp's speaker. I thought it sounded great. I have a Mark V and love the amp. Unfortunately, I am in a situation where we cannot have any stage volume, it's all direct to the board...
I have had a crackling noise in my Mark V for months now. It is intermittent but when it does it, it's pretty loud. I've tried to narrow it down but it appears to be in all channels, FX loop on or off, and even when I don't have a guitar plugged into the amp. It seems as though it is mostly...
Anybody else having this issue? I really wanted to be able to use the GEQ for a 4th sound, like a midscooped chunk. It looks like I may have to use it for ch. 2 & 3 to lower the mids a bit and increase the bass. Turning the bass up on the regular EQ sounds flubby.
I know there are Mark V owners that do not have any issues with running these Boss pedals in the FX loop but I do. No matter how I would tweak the amp and pedals, I would get a clipping sound. After talking with Mesa and some other folks on this board, I need to go with pedals that are more...
Every once in awhile the amp will just start crackling. It happens on all channels and even happens when I unplug the guitar. Would this most likely be preamp or pweramp tubes or something else?
Musicians Friend has the Nova Delay priced at $199 now while the Repeater is still at $169. Since price is really not a factor in my decision at those prices, is there any reason one would choose the Nova Repeater over the Nova Delay? I don't necessarily need the presets and the readout of the...
I have had clipping issues with my Boss delay and chorus pedals in the V's loop. When talking with Mesa I recall that they said the loop was designed more for line level effects vs. instrument level. I've already tried to cure the problem with the Boss pedals (see other threads I've started or...
I run an POD X3 Live direct to the board at church. Is anybody using the X3 Live with the Mark V? I would not use the X3 for my distortions, but for most other effects like delays, chorus, wah (with 4 cable method), tuner, etc.
When I put my Boss Delay in the FX loop and engage the loop, the delay sound is very distorted. I'm on the clean channel with the gain backed down. I tried a Boss chorus pedal and got the same issue. I turned the loop level down and still had distortion (the clip type of distortion). I ran...
I'm working on some dotted eighth delay stuff ala "The Edge" and was wondering if anybody has dialed in a pseudo Vox tone that they could share their settings with me? Mark V of course and DD5 delay.
I'm looking for a gainier, more distorted Channel 1 sound for my Channel 2. Almost like turning on my BB Preamp with Channel 1. The Edge mode just sounds too thin and the Crunch mode too midrangey. I haven't really tried the Mark I mode for this type of tone. Can anyone guide me to this type...
If I leave my delay pedal and tuner on all the time and switch them on and off with the footswitch, won't this wear out the pedals quicker? What's the advantage of switching the FX with the footswitch? Does it take the pedals completely out of the circuit, thus providing a purer tone? My...
Within one strum I new this was the amp for me. It is amazing! I do have some concerns however: 1) I have the model with the metal cage around the tubes and it prevents me from being able to put the footswitch in the bag. 2) There is intermeiitent crackling/scratching noises usually when I...
I've got a Mark V on the way and can't wait to dive in to the tones. One of the tones I haven't heard on a sound or video clip yet is a slightly dirty rythmn tone. I hate to use it, but the Stevie Ray slight breakup sound. You can strum an open G chord and tell it's distorted but yet you can...
Been messing with my LSS settings for the fun of it and just discovered (I know, I'm usually the last to find out. Oh, did you hear Michael Jackson died?) that if you crank the Treble you can get more gain but to compensate you need to reduce the presence. This amp is really pretty amazing...
OK, I'm old and only play small place now. I'm looking for a 1x12, not necessarily a Mesa brand, to use with a Dual Recifier head. Anybody already done a 1x12 shootout?
Is there anyone that has a Fender Deluxe or a Vox AC30 that has tried to simulate those sounds on a Lonestar Special? If so, could you share your settings?
