    The Brad Paisley tone

Has anybody been able to cop a tone close to Brad Paisley's with the Mark V? Channel 1 with a compressor & overdrive or just maybe Channel 2?

Mark V combo is just too heavy.

I have had my Mark V combo for sale now for about a month and only a couple of bites. Tonight I took it out to a band practice and it just sounded killer. To get a good thick tone out of my Ash Strat, I cranked all the channel mids to 3 o'clock, treble down to 11 o'clock, and bass at about 11...

Mark V combo is just too heavy.

I'm pushing 60 years old and I finally admit that it takes everything I have to carry my Mark V combo up and down the stairs at home, at practice, and gigs. I really want to get something significantly of lighter weight. The amp sounds so good though, that I don't think I'll be satisfied...

    TC Tone Print Pedals

I had an old Boss DD 5 delay and CE 5 Chorus and really have loved them for years. When inserted in the Mark V FX loop, they would distort really bad. Mesa confirmed that the V likes line level effects in the loop so I bought a Nova Repeater and just love it in the loop. I need a chorus...

One of my Trac-lok casters is stuck and won't come off!

I've tried pounding it off with a screwdriver and a hammer and just can't get it off of my Mark V combo. Help!

Using a Mark V live direct to the mixing board?

The Mark IV had a recording out jack that my friend used to go direct to the mixing board instead of micing the amp's speaker. I thought it sounded great. I have a Mark V and love the amp. Unfortunately, I am in a situation where we cannot have any stage volume, it's all direct to the board...

Crackle in full power mode when warmed up

Tim, I have the same issue. I called Boogie and they suspected a preamp tube. I bought a new Mesa 12AX7 and one by one swapped out each preamp tube and the crackling persisted. My Boogie is just out of warranty for the tubes so I guess I will bite the bullet and buy a new set of power tubes...

COULD THIS BE A POWER TUBE PROBLEM?

Thank you for helping! I tried the tube tapping thing first when I was trying to diagnose the problem. It's not the guitar, cables, or footswitch because it happens without the F/S plugged in or the guitar plugged in. I think at this point I will bite the bullet and buy a pair of Mesa power...

COULD THIS BE A POWER TUBE PROBLEM?

I have had a crackling noise in my Mark V for months now. It is intermittent but when it does it, it's pretty loud. I've tried to narrow it down but it appears to be in all channels, FX loop on or off, and even when I don't have a guitar plugged into the amp. It seems as though it is mostly...

    Mark V making crackling/tremolo noises...need new tubes?

OK. I'm really getting frustrated now. I thought I had the crackling issue solved but it's back. I bought a new Mesa 12AX7 and one by one replced each preamp tube. I get an intermittent cracling noice in all wattage settings, all channels, loop in or out. I take the amp off Standby and I...

    Mark V making crackling/tremolo noises...need new tubes?

I had the same crackling noise. I called Mesa and they thought I should start the diagnosis with the preamp tubes. I tapped on all the power tubes first since I was back there, then tapped on all the preamp tubes. I didn't hear or see a thing. Then a funny thing happened; my reverb quit...

    FX loop distortion

Joe, Maybe it was because my two Boss pedals were so old, but there was absolutely no doubt that there was so much clipping when they were in the effects loop that I could not use them there. I did not want them in front of the amp because I switch channels and most know that affects the level...

Can't seem to dial out the midrange in Ch. 2 and 3

Anybody else having this issue? I really wanted to be able to use the GEQ for a 4th sound, like a midscooped chunk. It looks like I may have to use it for ch. 2 & 3 to lower the mids a bit and increase the bass. Turning the bass up on the regular EQ sounds flubby.

    Amazing Mark V discovery!

I had the same revelation by bypassing the loop and was also wondering how to get close to that tone with the loop engaged. Crank up the Output Master?

Need to replace my Boss Delay and Chorus pedals

I'm probably not the one to give the best answer to this but Marcus Daniel with Mesa said that the Mark V's FX loop was built to be used for more high quality line level type processors in it. I take it he meant rack processors and pedals with a line level jack or switch. Boss pedals for...

Need to replace my Boss Delay and Chorus pedals

I know there are Mark V owners that do not have any issues with running these Boss pedals in the FX loop but I do. No matter how I would tweak the amp and pedals, I would get a clipping sound. After talking with Mesa and some other folks on this board, I need to go with pedals that are more...

    Intermittent crackling noise

Every once in awhile the amp will just start crackling. It happens on all channels and even happens when I unplug the guitar. Would this most likely be preamp or pweramp tubes or something else?

    Nova Delay versus Nova Repeater

Musicians Friend has the Nova Delay priced at $199 now while the Repeater is still at $169. Since price is really not a factor in my decision at those prices, is there any reason one would choose the Nova Repeater over the Nova Delay? I don't necessarily need the presets and the readout of the...

Line Level vs. Instrument level in Mark V FX loop?

After some research the Nova Repeater for the money looks like a good choice for me. It has a guitar and loop input. It does not have true bypass. Does True Bypass matter as much when the effect is in the loop as it does when it's in line with the guitar and amp?

Line Level vs. Instrument level in Mark V FX loop?

I have had clipping issues with my Boss delay and chorus pedals in the V's loop. When talking with Mesa I recall that they said the loop was designed more for line level effects vs. instrument level. I've already tried to cure the problem with the Boss pedals (see other threads I've started or...
