My 1986 4x12 with metal grill has no name on handles. I was quite disappointed when it arrived but does it ever still kick major butt!

hmmm...just to be the Devil's Advocate...is there a 1/4" jack plugged into the EQ jack on the back of the amp? If there is, unplug it and the EQ on the front should be OK.

I had the same problem too. Found out I was replacing the fuse with the wrong type. I needed to use a "Slo-Blow" fuse and because I wasn't, the amp would blow the fuses as soon as I turned it on...Hope it all works out for you.

I did this mod on my Short Head Mark III with very positive results.

I use the send from the efx loop on many of my amps...works wonders and ups the volume and tone big time. Amps should have a speaker load always just to be safe. Use your ears...if it sounds odd or bad, then something is messed up...recheck your connections and always start with the volume down...

Best amp I ever played is my 1985 No Stripe Mark III Simul-Class with EQ and Reverb. All packaged in a small head going into a Mesa 4x12 and it loved to eat any amp within 100 feet. I let it go during a VERY STUPID Time in my life and have regretted ever since...however; Today I play a Flextone...
