    How old is this Mesa?

That looks just like mine! I've had mine for awhile...I'm guessing late 90s is when I bought it new. In the back by the tubes theres a serial number sticker that says N-####, mine is N-4354. From what I've found on the net, it's a version 1 2:90. There's only a version 1 and 2 as far as I know...

    2:90 Preamp Tube Order

From what I could find (other than what leadfootdriver provided), it seems that as you are looking at the front of the 2:90 the tubes are ordered from left to right V3, V2, and V1. V3 & V2 are the phase inverters for channels A & B respectively, and V1 is the input tube. Does anyone else have...

Is this while facing the front panel?

    2:90 Preamp Tube Order

Can someone tell me which tubes are V1, V2, and V3 for the 2:90 preamp tubes? I assume the tube closest to the input jacks is V1 but I'd like to verify.

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

Alright, I've got a few 12BZ7's on the way. A few black plates as well as some gray plates. I also found an RCA 5751WA black plate w/halo getter but only 2 mica plates. Anyone tried this tube before? I know the 3 mica ones are supposed to be great, but I'm curious how this would compare. I plan...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

Anyone tried the RCA silver plate 12BZ7? How does it compare to the black plate?

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

I'm about to order up a Mullard CV4024 for the V2 spot, what should I get for the 2:90 preamp tubes? Would I be better off putting a 12AT7 or 12AU7 into the V1 on the 2:90? I'm also looking for the RCA black plate 5751 3-mica, RCA black plate 12BZ7, and Mullard long plate halo getter ECC83 tubes...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

I'm a metal player looking for high gain without muddyness or flub. Example guitar tones I like can be heard from Lamb of God, In Flames, and Pantera. I also play other music, but I figure if I can create the high gain tone I like I can just dial it down to get a lighter or clean sound. I'd like...

What if Mesa launched a new Triaxis?

It definitely looks pretty promising, except it's missing the ability to save presets as well as the midi controls. Hopefully they're working on implementing these features into the Mark V in a rack format....

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

I've recently been buying up NOS tubes recently to do some good old tube rolling in my Triaxis and I found this thread. Timbre Wolf - I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the 2:90 input and PI tubes! I've been having similar issues to others on this message board with my Triaxis and/or...

What if Mesa launched a new Triaxis?

I'd definitely demo one immediately! I picked up a used Triaxis last year after wanting one for many years, and I'm getting frustrated with it. Some days it sounds AWESOME. Most of the time it's just weak on the gain and kinda grainy up high. I've tried numerous tube combinations but haven't...

Where to buy a new Triaxis

dragonaxe: Call Tom at the Music Center in Kenosha, WI...I used to buy everything from them and now that I'm done with school I'm about to start up again. He always gave me unbelievable pricing and service. Plus you don't have to pay taxes, just shipping. I'm actually waiting on a quote for a...

Should I get a Recto Pre or a Triaxis???

I'm looking to upgrade my preamp section (currently using a Digitech 2101 for effects and preamp), but I'm stuck on which pre to get. I have a 2:90 and 2 4x12 cabs, both with celestion speakers. I have read some of the other posts, but I have yet to come to a final decision. Most of the music I...
