Speakers for my 412 that aren't Celestion

Yeah I actually thought about getting my hands on a 4x10 sometime in the near future. I love the lowend sound but Im much more of a punch fan than a thump fan if that makes any sense. Those Governors sound interesting as well as the splawns, I'll see if I can find some demos somewhere on them...

Speakers for my 412 that aren't Celestion

I am looking into replacing the speakers in my 412 (peavey 412MS) cab and I have been trying to lean away form Celestion. The "celestion" sound has never done much for me personally, I always found them to be a little muffled and loose sounding. Right now, I am using 5150 Sheffield 1200 series...

    Bais question, two different readings.

yeah, Im biasing it in the bold and silicon rectifier settings since thats how I use the amp normally. I picked 6l6 since the tube only reads 6l6EH on it. I know the original use of GC was due to the switch to glass case back in the day and I didn't know that they had different wattages. I...

    Bais question, two different readings.

Well, I tested my tubes and they all checked out very well. I am using EH 6l6's and I've never had issues with them before. I always get my sets matched and sent direct from EH, I have a tube tester on hand as well to make sure i'm not getting any lame tubes as well. It ends up one of my bias...

    Bais question, two different readings.

Hi all, I was taking a bias reading on my 97 dual rec the today and I noticed that the inside pair is waay off from the outside pair of tubes. I want to run them just above 70 percent (bout 30ma or so for 6l6). But when I take my readings I have 47 on the inside pair and 22 on outside pair...

Noise in my Dual Rec - filter caps?

Hey all, My 97 dual just recently started acting up, right before a **** show of course. But I'm getting a loud jet engine like hiss that is noticeable on the clean and dirty channel. I've tested all the tubes and they seem to be fine and replaced ones just to be sure to no avail. It also is...

    potentiometers

Go to an autoparts store and get a can of electronics cleaner that doesn't have the residue in it and use it to clean it off the pots before it creates a problem if you're worried. Otherwise I wouldn't worry to much, I haven't had an issue myself.

I've used DeoxIt as well on mine and had no issues. We're they particularly dirty?

    Need Serious help! quickly! plz!

There are internal fuses as well. You most likely have a blown power tube, I would not recommend putting new ones in yourself. You should get the amp checked just to make sure you didn't kill anything down the line for the power tubes.

    Dual Rectifier Footswitch

Anyone know if there is power being supplied to run the LED in a mesa boogie footswitch, or are they all battery powered. Also if anyone has one could you post a gut shot of it (the footswitch)? Im building my own and I can't find schematics for it anywhere, though it's simple enough.

    Fulltone OCD VS Maxon OD808

Like most clean boosts the maxon tends to do well for leads and such, but it also emphasizes the high end. Which on a Mesa sometimes isn't a good thing. The OCD is a distortion pedal yes, when running it on the HP setting with the volume at 3pm distortion completely off and tone in the middle it...

So sick of my dual rec. Is a Peavey 6505+ in my future?

I personally cannot stand the three channel series. Mesa muddles too much up when they add all those features, the 2 channel series is far superior and if you can find one to try out, do it. The lead guitarist in my band has a 6505+ and he loved it until we started rehearsing with a drummer full...

How do you handle lead boosts on your older rectos?

I always just use a EQ in the loop and boost the mids to cut through on my leads. Seems to work better than any boosts and such.

Nomad 45, cardboard under the transformers?

Hey guys, I have a Nomad45 im looking at for a friend. At one point he said the amp started smoking and hasn't played it since, when looking inside I didn't see any culprits on the board but I did notice that under both transformers there is to small strips of cardboard. The cardboard is between...

    Best Boost for Recto thread

I've owned them all and finally settled on my Fulltone OCD as my main rhythm pedal. I'll use an 808 as a lead boost sometimes but more and more im running just an EQ as a boost for leads.
