Assistance with possible Loop and Tube issue

Hello! I have an issue I think i have isolated and am looking for a second opinion. Perceived Issue: When running the Effects Loop there is a loss of tone and power, sluggishness in the lows and a loss of some harmonics Theory: V4 and V6 12AX7 need to be replaced Testing: Stripped...

    headphones

Shure SRH440 http://www.shure.com/americas/products/earphones-headphones/headphones/srh440-professional-studio-headphones I got these on recommendation from my engineer. His classes all use these as they are cost effective, relatively neutral and very sturdy.

Recording of mark v through speaker other than V30?

I would be interested to see how you are running the channel and if you have the EQ or FX loop in line. I really liked cleans with 6L6 tubes through my Peavey 412M. At 16 ohm, 300 Watt it always felt very tight, but the speakers are 30 years old, so it has a worn in warmth to them.

What effects do you use and what it does for you.

The two core pedals I use are the Eventide TimeFactor and ModFactor. I like the flexibility of building my own effects with these pedals (and I got them prior to the H9 being a thing). The TimeFactor is locked in the loop right now, but I have split the ModFactor to be active either before the...

    recording with the mk v

Make sure you dial in the tone you want, and record with that. Don't let anyone tell you they can fix something in post. Go so far as to talk with your engineer/producer about what they will do with the guitar tone. Don't be afraid to reset your tone and start from scratch either, what you...

Here's what Fractal is doing to our music

I think it unfair to ask us to compare sound quality by using online audio. Get some uncompressed full audio to compare. Live the tones would sound fuller than what these recordings show. I wouldn't hate on the Axe FX or other amp modelers too much. They serve a place. Going back to...

Effects loop issue with Mark V SQUEALING

Can you try the POD on another amp or another device in the loop of the Mark V? Based upon what you have stated I am thinking this is something related to the POD. My thought process is, a loud squeal when engaging the loop could be a high gain/high volume boost coming in the line. Would it...

    Mark V bashing / hate

With Process the producer went in with the mentality that he could 'edit anything that isn't right'. Well, he destroyed the guitar and bass tones (that's a SVT4 tube with 6x10 fridge w/ 4 mics). He hand cut a lot of phrases with the bulk of the work on the drums but a lot of work on the...

    Mark V bashing / hate

Just for fun, two thoughts on the OP: 1 - Not a lot of people actually get to play with enough different amps to have a truly diverse opinion about what a good or bad amp is and what it is or isn't good at. 2 - Most music I hear these days has really terrible production for the guitars. Flat...

    Clicking noise (w/ video)

Stoked to hear that the amp is performing! Sucks to hear about the power. I use a Furman power conditioner and it kills all kinds of ground and line noise. I realize this is a rack unit and not everyone has a rack but it is an example of a great piece of hardware for just under $100. It made...

    Clicking noise (w/ video)

It sounds like you have done some pretty good back checking. Have you tried calling Mesa (I would at this point)?

    Clicking noise (w/ video)

Watched the video: The clicking is always at that rate? It sounds like a click or metronome; you don't have something on a MIDI clock do you? I would strip down to guitar -> amp -> cab (even remove the foot switch and hard set a channel) and then swap out the cab and speaker cable. Having...

Mesa tubes or others? Full re-tube, what to buy?

I have used a selection of different pre-amp tubes and have found that the new in box quality and life span for most brands are pretty much the same. I personally have only seen a handful of pre-amp tubes go south and never in my Mark V. I have also retubed the power section with Mesa branded...

Anyone use Voodoo Labs Ground Control with a Mark V

You will need a way for the Mark V to communicate with the Ground Control. I use a Mini Amp Gizmo from RJM ( http://www.rjmmusic.com/miniampgizmo.php ). You will need the Mark V cable as well for the Mini Amp Gizmo. This is due to the Mark V not accepting MIDI signals and needing a controller...

Any suggestions on making the V come ALIVE!

I am a bit of a tweaker and my advice is always to 'go home'. I use Channel 3 primarily in Mark IV mode but this tip applies to all channels more or less equally. I have been tweaking the Mark V for 5 years and as such understand a bit about what the options will bring to the table. Before...

Cheapest way to switch two Mesa's using one foot switch?

Mini amp gizmo uses different cables for different amps. I do know that they do share some attributes but, not wholesale. They may be willing to give you the pin out for each amp you have though. Might even be in their user guides online. I use a Voodoo Labs GFX and Ground Control with a mini...

Help a (almost) ex-marshall fella find his new home!

http://youtu.be/gD_12owDw90 This is the prog metal band I play in. I am on your right side with Mark V and our other guitarist is on the left side with Dual Rec Roadster. I am playing through the Peavey cab in my sig, and the Rec is through a Rectifier Cab. Recorded off the mixing board into...

Vids of artist using mesa mark v live?

I am trying to find a video of me playing live where you can hear the Mark V well. http://youtu.be/Kg9b_TX8rKA I am stage left playing through my Mark V. This is a camera mix, and I am kinda louder than my band mates for most of it. The second guitar is a Mesa Dual Rec Roadster. The outro...

Help a (almost) ex-marshall fella find his new home!

Have you read the user manuals? I strongly suggest doing so, as there is a wealth of information that will mostly make sense to you and perhaps give you more interest or confidence of one over the other. http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/user_manuals.html#gpm1_2

RA100 vs Mark v vs Roadster

If you think you are going to be unhappy than you need to keep searching and get all the answers you need. Buy the amp you love, not the one you think you want or need. I love my Mark V and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have 'almost' bought a lot of amps over the years and with the...
