Hi, Just as a note.. when reading about the reader mod 2 ( jumper mod ), I noticed one one of the noted results was that the tone stack when all dialed 'off' filtered the volume to zero... my 07 LSC mk 2 does this as standard !!! ?? .... interested to hear any input from others ? Paul

    debugging FX loop problem

And just in case you do have tube probs... SOUND “DROP-OUTS” / INTERMITTENT SIGNAL One Possible Cause Most (but not all) Mesa/Boogie amplifiers have one or two “cathode follower” tube stages in their preamps. Tube selection is CRITICAL in these stages. Specifically, in a 12AX7 tube...

    debugging FX loop problem

Hi again Fuzzfreek, Other obvious checks... but ones that have been missed by others, including me, so its worth going through it all. firstly, loop volume (send level) on the back of the amp should be at around 12 - 1 oclock. your problem is intermitant, so I doubt this is it.. Im sure you...

    debugging FX loop problem

Hi Fuzzfreek, Have you tried jumping the loop with a short patch cord to see if the problem dissapears. the loop inputs can cause problems if they are oxidised or dirty. plug a patch cord in and out a few times then run the amp with the loop engaged jumping send & return with a good patch cord...

' Popping ' when using all switches

Hi everyone, Most switches build up static, upon first used each session my lonestar channel/solo & 100/50/10watt switches popped so loudly it almost left me not wanting to use them without turning the volume/output way down. solution... it was static, I just switch them a couple of times...

question about jumper cables in effects loop on LSC

agree with pine... think this came about as a potential fix for volume drops outs due to poor/dirty contacts inside the the loop inputs. presumably send & return are bridged internally, if the input mech contacts arent spot on, theory is its possible when no jacks are in loop this may cause...

how should my pedals be arranged

Its very easy to sound condesending or abrasive when posting when in reality your not intending to. ( we have all miscomprehended the odd text message ) .. if someone says something in person we can see their face and pick up on their intention. I could have been indignant ( ie, he thinks Im an...

    UK price of 2x12 LSC £1799 ($3,065.89 USD ) !!

Thanks for your input ifailedshapes, Its definately not the condition of the power supply. I checked that out ages ago, I have used many valve amps over the years, this particular amp is definately problematic. It has a suspect reverb, wanders off settings and blows pre amp valves irrespective...

UK price of 2x12 LSC £1799 ($3,065.89 USD ) !! So after a great deal of time spent buying & replacing pre amp tubes that keep crapping out, then spending even more time recently trying to improve my somewhat absent reverb, I now find after having used the FX loop hooked up for a while. when I...

Hi guys, So what do we all make of the mesa memo (posted elswhere on the board) stating that russian 2's are NOT reliable in cathode follower positions... having read the 'memo' I put a known good mesa chinese 12ax7 in V3 of my lonestar..
