i use "garageband" on my mac (both are old versions) and find that the more i rely on using their effects, the slower the mac runs. now i only use their delays/ reverb and any tempo-based fx and add the chorus/ distortion before plugging into my m-audio box. if the mac didn't have issues...

+1 on elixirs. they are more expensive than most but you won't need to change them out as much so it may net out to be the same.

have you guys tried out the keeley mods for the boss OD pedals? i use his ds-1 & bd-1 pedals. they're amazingly clean.

ernie ball now has a wah pedal that's built similar to their volume pedals... may be worth a look.

you can use the pedal as a reverb pedal as well. search the forums and i'm sure you'll find a nice setting. unfortunately, you can have it perform delay + reverb at the same time as they'll be on different presets. i use the dd-20s 1st 3 presets (and even the manual preset) for delays and use...

i have the dd-20 as well. i don't have any noise problems w/ it and actually use 1 of the settings as my 2nd reverb. highly recommended.
