    Recently acquired DC-10 question

Could clean it up with some 99% alcohol and Q- tips. Are you sure it’s overheating? Maybe the electrolytic caps are leaking on to the board?

Black Shadow MS-12 vs Lead 80 speaker?

Again my ms-12 is very old UPDATE - Back to the MS-12 -less bass, more top end, a little more higher mids then the Lead 80 - went back and forth very close between the two speakers. The MS-12 breaks up sooner then the lead 80 but could be the age difference. two great speakers for this amp IMHO

Black Shadow MS-12 vs Lead 80 speaker?

IMHO, after playing both, the Lead 80 is better - now also my lead 80 is 1yr old, with minimum hrs and the MS-12 is from 1982, with countless hours. So not really fair. Another thing in the lead 80's favor - I dig saving the weight savings.

Do Tubes Make that much of a Difference

Best sealed 2x12 I’ve used is an old Marshall 1936 model- it’s a little oversized for a 2x12 so it sounds nice not compressed or boxy

Do Tubes Make that much of a Difference

if you have a bunch of tubes laying around- roll away- I just wouldn’t buy tubs to roll not worth it IMHO

Do Tubes Make that much of a Difference

I agree to disagree with you - that’s fine it’s all subjective stuff. I’ve done this stuff with tubes and it gets expensive.

Black Shadow MS-12 vs Lead 80 speaker?

Just realized the 1982 MKIIB has a original MS-12 speaker - it sounds fine but, I have a Classic lead 80 celestion laying around. So I already swapped the two speakers and don't really hear a difference? From what I've read the MS-12 150 watt was made by eminence back in the day. The Ms-12 is...

Do Tubes Make that much of a Difference

Power tubes not so much - preamp tubes are your biggest change IMHO

Sweetwater is showing "new" mesa tubes

IMHO the power tubes don’t change the tone much - I just want reliable power tubes - the change in tone is in the preamp - IMHO

    Mark iib v3 question

Do you have a DVM to read the dc voltage on V3

    Mark V25 intermittent static

I would start with the preamp tubes- do you have an extra one to swap in - one at a time to check each 12ax7 ? It could be anything but a lot of times it the tubes. You can gently tap the tubes ( all tubes ) while the amp is on to see if you hear it. Good luck

Looking for gut shots of mkIIB RP-9C circuit board

was just messing with the .47uf value. that seems to be a great match, everything works together nicely - im not fighting to much bass on the lead drive but not enough bass on the clean - the pull bright on the lead master sounds great too. Going to play it now for a couple of days- see how it...
