Mark V QUESTION ON HEAD OR COMBO

absolutely. I think open back combos are ok for cleans or medium gain but I’ve never heard an amazing high gain sound coming from an open back. All the brutality just escapes out bsck there or something lol When I got my Mark IV I attempted to be stubborn and keep it on combo format but that...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Interesting! I've never played any type of II so don't have a frame of reference there. I forgot to add that I always have my keeley compressor plus on too. Been too long since I had the red stripe so I don't remember my settings there, but I wonder if maybe this is part of the "more mellow"...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I’m also in the pristine cleans camp, with my III and the input volume at 7 I achieve that, but I guess pickup type will have impact on that as well. Sure bridge humbucker full bore has some dirt to it. But I would never use a bridge humbucker for my clean sounds anyway. My go to clean config is...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Yeah, I had my first Mark V before they made this change to the manual, I used to run =C= EL34s in that one, but never used variac mode. Never had a problem. I'm guessing its probably a "better safe than sorry" type of shift or to cover their rears lol

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I bet Mesa support might have the answer... I'm constantly pestering them with questions though they might be getting sick of me. Don't want to bug them with questions about an amp I'm not buying

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

It’s been to long since I had my red stripe to recall my settings there, but at the moment on the purple I’m finding volume on 7, treble on like 7-8 and lead drive between 7 or all the way up seems to be a sweet spot lol. Have presence around 2.5 Big beautiful punchy cleans and brutal punishing...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I've never found this to be a problem on my old red stripe or current purple stripe personally, but I have heard others express this 🤷‍♂️ I can't really think of what I could possibly want more from either clean or high gain really Now trying to get a decent sounding R2 along with that...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I just got a III but would love a simulclass one as well, would love to see this release start driving III prices down :D

New member and new to Mesa amps

Oh man! I guess The express LOVES an sd1 I never really ran it with the burn channel, but just dirtying up the clean channel with an sd1 was soooo good. And at the time I had it I was gently reentering the gear world after selling everything off and ditching guitar for like a year… upon reentry...

New member and new to Mesa amps

I had the combo, my biggest regret with that thing is never giving it a fair shot through a closed back cab. Did so much awesome stuff but always fell short for me for high gain tones But yeah, I even thought my Mark IV sounded like a turd for that before rehousing to a head and using...

    NAD! Mark III Purple Stripe

Purple stripe SR. This amp is a bad motherfuker  The guy made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and I’ve been eyeing this for over a month now Exceeding expectations actually. Spent a good hour or so without adding any EQ and just jamming it as god built it. Was able to dial in some pretty...

Mesa Boogie please stop screwing EU :)

That really sucks. I kind of would have expected EU distribution to improve by now with the infrastructure Gibson has available to them. I assume Gibson guitars probably aren't difficult to get in the EU? (I actually have no idea) Also curious about Gibson pricing in the EU compared to what...

So I switched out my Mark IV for my Splawn last night at rehearsal and got an interesting response from the rest of the band

Interesting, I'd never call a Mark IV polite, but Splawns are pretty sweet lol I personally take my bandmates tone opinions with a hefty grain of salt, I've found they interpret tone more with their eyes than their ears

    Badlander el34s vs 6L6 smackdown

UPDATE; psyche!!! I’m literally just an ***** and have been enjoying too many beers tonight, accidentally clipped the FS switch with my fat fingers while I was going back and forth between crunch and crush :ROFLMAO: BAD reigning supreme right now

    Badlander el34s vs 6L6 smackdown

Well ****, tonight was really cooking. Just going to town with my LP. Everything was sounding amazing. Coming to terms with the cleans having a little grit to them (I mean I got this amp for something different, not to sound just like my marks right? Lol) Just was having a blast loving...

    Badlander el34s vs 6L6 smackdown

Still need to try popping the EL34s back in. It's interesting, for such a straight forward amp thats super easy to get going with a great sound, I've still found myself tweaking immensely every time I plug into it

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I think it looks awesome. I'm not gonna buy one but I think it's great that they're releasing this As always, curious what the used market might look like on this in about a year

Seen at Seattle Guitar Center: Purple Stripe DRG Mark III

Absolutely, those are pretty scarce but since I’ve been eyeballing this thing for the past few weeks I was testing out the HX stomp version of the Mesa EQ vs the real ones in my IV and V and found it closer than I was expecting. Once in a full band mix I’m sure it would be indiscernible Hell...
