2006 Lonestar Special For Sale or Trade for Stiletto Ace

I am the original owner of a Lonestar Special bought new in 2006. It's in excellent condition and was re-tubed with JJs and I added a Weber Beam Blocker last December. I bought the LSS before the Stiletto Ace was available so I'm looking for an amp that gives me more of the Marshall classic...

WTT - My Stiletto Ace 2x12 for

Still looking for a trade? I've got a Lonestar Special 1x12 combo I bought new in 2006. It's a great amp but I'm looking for more of the EL-34 tone. It's been retubed with JJs including the golds plus it has a Weber Beam Blocker installed to diffuse the highs so you hear what the audience...

8 Ohm (35 watts) speaker option with LSS combo?

I use it all the time. Every once in awhile when trying new settings I'll try the 4 Ohm but quickly go back to 8 as it seems to take the muddiness out without having to crank the treble up too much

    Question: Eurotubes for LSS

I put the Eurotube gold kit in my lss. It warmed it up nicely. I also did the Reader Mod but was one of the few who put it back to stock.

Do you guys elevate your amp?

Before I put in a Weber Beam Blocker I used to pop off the back casters and the amp would lean back nicely allowing me to better hear what was really coming out. It also help keep that bass response reflecting off the floor, something you lose when it's on a stand.

    Another LSS channel 2 mod

I did Reeder mod on my LSS and found the pot numbers to be as shown in the diagram. The mod worked fine but I ended up going back to stock after I changed out the Mesa tubes for JJs and installed a Weber Beam Blocker. I'm looking for more of that darker EJ tone which is a bit tricky on an LSS...

Where we stand makes a huge difference when tweaking!

I installed the 4" Weber Beam Blocker on my LSS and it made a huge difference. Without it. and standing close to the amp one doesn't hear the highs like you would standing 10' or more in front of the amp. We tend to push the presence and treble to compensate and this results in sending ice...

Anybody got any opinions on tubes for the LSS

+1 on the JJs :D . I ordered them from Eurotubes and went with the more expensive option with the gold pins. They warmed the amp up quite a bit. For $18 I added a Weber Beamblocker and that made a huge difference. Now I hear what the audience hears without having to tilt the amp back.

Drive knob higher than Gain knob?

I've got to agree! I generally leave the drive on 2 and run the gain between 12 and 2. I've also found plugging the speaker cable into the alternate 8 ohm jack cleans it up a bit too.

    LSS plus Tele equals... dang!!

I've got a Musicman Steve Morse model with two humbuckers, one strat and one tele single coil pickups on it. It took a bit of tweaking but I can get great sounds out of all pickups. One addition that made a big difference was installing the Weber Beam Blocker on the LSS. It helped to reduce...

Still having issues with the LSS

I'm 99.9% sure it's the rectifier tube going out again. I went through a couple of them within a short period of time and contacted Mesa directly. In each case they sent me a free replacement tube as they know that this is an issue. I haven't had a problem in over a year now. I always carry...

    Lonestar Classic or Lonestar Special?

I've had a LSS since 2006 when it replaced an F-50 that uses 6L6s. I played the LSC and LSS side by side at Guitar Center and walked out with the LSS. Here's why: The LSS had more sensitivity to touch or pick attack It was lower wattage (LSC didn't have the 10w option at that time) and class...

    eurotubes... so many options

I have an LSS that I've been struggling with for two years to get a smooth sound out of channel 2 but I think this applies to the LSC as well. I went as far as doing the "Reeder Mod" which helped but I was still tweaking. I decided that it was time for a retube and after talking with the...

This i want to do to my LSS

To save you drilling a hole, there is a hidden and often overlooked reverb switch jack underneath the amp below the slave jack. See the bottom of page 14 in the manual. :)

    F30 stolen

I lost my F-50  a few years back after leaving it at a private gigging studio and assured that it was covered by the owner's insurance. That would have been fine if the idiot would have claimed the amp to be his (some of his stuff was stolen as well). The police were incompetent :? and...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

After trying out the settings on the modded LSS I hit upon the "Barbeque" sample setting from the owners manual. I found this to be too muddy before the mod but after the mod it cuts through nicely although I bump the presence up to about 11 :D This setting at 5w gives enough overdrive to make...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

After tweaking channel 2 on my LSS for about two years to find the Tone I finally did the mod, switching the gain and master pots on channel 2. My first impressions were a more precise tonality but slightly cleaner. My 13 year-old son noticed the difference right away and comment that the...

    LSS Sounding "Muddy"

You probably need new power tubes. I'd recommend the Mesa tubes to protect your warranty. I just did my power tubes after 1 1/2 years and it brought all the sparkle and crispness back :D

    Goosing the LSS?

I know you made you decision already but for other folks interested in getting more of the singing sustain from an LSS you might consider a Mesa V-Twin pedal. They're expensive new ($350-400) but you can find them used for around $200. I run it on channel two using the blues setting and...

    Proud new LSS owner

To stay under warranty you need to get a Mesa rectifier tube and you can get them from Mesa direct or an authorized dealer. The fuses can be purchased at Radio Shack or any retailer that stocks the same fuse. Monsta-Tone is right in that if the rectifier tube goes it doesn't necessarily take...
