    New Tube Color Code Question

Following up on my original question. After much research both here and elsewhere, I ordered a set of tubes from Guitar Center. They are not returnable, so I had them delivered to the nearest GC store and examined them before I walked out of the store with them. They are Mesa STR-445 6L6 GCs...

I Only Waited a Couple of Decades for This Day

My 2018 SG has mini-humbuckers, which fit the same routes as the P90 routes. Newer humbuckers have higher output than the vintage ones in my '64 SG. The minis have outputs closer to the vintage humbuckers. They all make good tones, they're just different sounds.

    Tube Country of Origin

I'm attempting to learn more about Mesa's tubes. I'm planning to swap out the EL34s in my TC-50 for some 6L6s. I found the site of a UK company that lists the country of origin for most of Mesa's tubes (valves to them). As far as I can tell, there are 3 countries making guitar amp tubes for...

I Only Waited a Couple of Decades for This Day

    New Tube Color Code Question

I've read several of the threads on this forum and elsewhere about the tube color codes, but I haven't seen my questions addressed yet. I have a new Triple Crown TC-50 head that was delivered with EL-34 tubes marked STR 447 BLU (I assume this is blue). I have read that some of you have...

I Only Waited a Couple of Decades for This Day

I told my wife that she bought me a Triple Crown TC-50 Head for our 50th anniversary (later this year), after she told me I bought her a fancy necklace. I've been wanting a Boogie for a couple of decades but they were too pricey to justify, until there was a special occasion to magically...
