    Mesa Maverick Hum

Interestingly, my amp has the same symptoms as user bleachedfan. For all I know it’s the same amp, as I got it used, but I think it’s more likely this is some common problem in the circuit. A relevant thread https://boogieforum.com/threads/volume-knob-crackling-not-what-you-think.65681 I have...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

Bumping this thread with a new development. I opened the amp and probed with a chopstick while it was running. I have found what is either the source of the hum or the part of the circuit that is responsive to it. It’s the wire from the volume pot for the clean channel, highlighted in this...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give it a shot when I have the chance. This guy did replace v4 with a new ax7 so it’s at least fresh and presumably working right.

    Mesa Maverick Hum

The more I mess with it the clearer it is that the hum is diminished but still there and that’s a bummer. It really doesn’t present on the lead channel, still the same old issue. It will work for playing with a band, but given that the tech (who is well regarded in the area) seemed to think it...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

Hey everyone, just got this back from the tech; the problem is (kind of) solved. The low hum seems to have been a tube issue, apparently one of the tubes had been inserted into the socket incorrectly? Frankly this confuses me as the hum existed for a while, and then I popped all the tubes in...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

I’ll definitely check back in. I love the amp, though I am a little fearful of this turning into a large repair bill or endless quest to fix something impossible to find.

    Mesa Maverick Hum

Very specific thank you. It’s a bit beyond my technical ability to address that myself, I’ll have to speak with a tech.

    Would you sell your mesaboogie?

Do you need the money right now, or is it taking up space that you really need? If either is true it is reasonable to sell, but if you can afford to hang on to it and don’t need the space for something else, I think it’s always better to hold on to it. But I am something of a hoarder when it...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

Yep, nothing needs to be plugged in, and the gain can be at 0, it’s specifically the master and output that increase its volume. It seems like it should be a ground thing but it happens regardless of where it’s plugged in. And it seems like if it was an issue with the wiring it was plugged into...

    Mesa Maverick Hum

My 212 Maverick is a late serial number and is in great shape. I only acquired it within the last year, but it seems like it got very little use before that. It gets played loud with a band at least once a week and it sounds good, but there's a low buzz that plagues the clean channel and it's...

    Hello All!

I have lurked in the forum for quite a while to get information about various Mesas, and it's finally time to join up in an effort to troubleshoot some noise issues with my Maverick. (I know I am not the first, but my issue seems slightly different than some of the others I have seen posted)...
