    New amp

It seemed a bit stiff at first. Gigged with it twice now, and it's getting better. The amp seems to work well in the mix.

    Got one

I'm wondering about the effects loop of the TC...is it behaving like the Mark V, or is it free of the "neutering" effect you described? I haven't tried the loop yet myself. Unlike most of you, I bought the combo, because l don't own an open back cab...and I tend to hear my co-guitarist across...

    NAD! Splawn Quick Rod

    Which do you prefer?

    New amp

Just got the combo over the weekend...no sales tax. I've tried it with my 2x12, and both together..but haven't rehearsed (or even tried it with my pedalboard yet).

Should I trade my Mark III for a Deuce I?

I've been trying to sell a Recto 4x12 in perfect condition for a long time too, as well as some other gear. I've only gotten lowball offers on everything I've listed...so the only thing that's clear, is that very few people are buying at all right now.

Mesa Stiletto or Marshall Vintage Modern?

Are you sure the speaker/s were plugged in? Tube amps hate not having a load attached.

PAY TO PLAY?!?! OR NOT TO PLAY?!?!?!!

For a brand new, basically unknown band far from home...it doesn't sound like a recipe for success. But best of luck to you, if you're committed.

Having trouble getting a good heavy guitar sound

I don't know, the SM57 has been recording guitar tracks in the studio for a long, long time now.

    Still Lovin' my Deuce II

Very cool. I'm waiting for some of my gear to sell, so I can get the Ace (I just seem to like the "classic" sound of EL34 amps)...man it's a hard wait. Especially with the amp I do own in storage on the mainland...not the best decision I've ever made. :(

Well, I got rid of my mark IV

Man, I'd love to try the Suhr Guthrie Govan model...version II (the set-neck one). :)

    new to boogies

Keep in mind that I've only used this cab with the Tone Tubbys, haven't tried V30s with it (even that's what they often load them with...I got mine unloaded), but I would call it full and punchy. The way the cab is constructed, it gets good bottom, and it sounds nice with clean tones as well.

    Post your rig part 2

I A/B'd an Orange cab with a Bogner cab, and man...those Orange cabs sound thick by comparison. I'm sure I'll get one at some point.

    Post your rig part 2

Holy Toledo, you're right!! Some of us would think that the best backup for a Recto would be.........................another Recto. Viola!

    Post your rig part 2

You had me with the Deans (I have a signed, prototype color USA hardtail, and an actual 1978 ML)...but you lost me with the Line 6. ;)

    new to boogies

I have to agree here. I've gone through a lot of different cabs over the (ahem) decades, and I've ended up using a Port City 2x12 loaded with Tone Tubby ceramics, over my 4x12 Recto cab for both live and studio work. There was a time I wouldn't use any thing other than 4x12 cabs (with the...

    Missed a great deal

Someone was selling a mint used Ace on Ebay a couple of days ago...without reserve! I'm waiting for some of my gear to sell in California, so I wasn't able to bid myself. It ended up going for $825. Arrrrgh!

Time traveled back to the 80s

I used an original one for years. Changing the tube really helped it.

New used C66 Carvin (with pics)

I have a Carvin CT6, which is a set neck, carved top guitar, similar to a PRS...but I prefer the neck on the Carvin. Great guitar.
