I’m the single Rec V3b is the cathode follower/tone stack driver. After the tone stack it goes straight to the fx loop V4 a: driver b: recovery. When you have a cathode driven tone stack you don’t necessarily need a recovery stage.
It’s actually pretty simple, after the first gain stage there’s usually a 0.02 capacitor. Buy changing that to a 0.002 we’re taking off way more low end before it hits the next gain stage. This makes it so much tighter. I also means we can turn the bass control up to compensate without it...

My studio preamp just started sounding weird, opened it up to chop stick it and the board was super microphonic, took out the tubes and checked the plates. Over 500v!!!! Anyone else had something similar happen?
