    Fillmore 50 vs California Tweed

The Fillmore 100 will give you cleans that are more Fender than Fender.

    Preamp tube recommendations for FM100

I received some feedback from Mesa Boogie on their Facebook page regarding the FM100 and preamp tube selection and position which may be helpful to others wanting to select the most appropriate tube for their Filllmore. "You need not worry about "balanced" preamp tubes in our amps. Balanced...

    Preamp tube recommendations for FM100

Tube aficionados, what would be a good selection of non-Mesa branded 12AX7 preamp tubes for V1 to V5 respectively? I play from sparkling clean to Hendrix and all things in between. Mainly blues, country/blues, contemporary country and rock. I assume the Mesa branded ones in my amp are JJ's but I...

AT7 in V3 for phase inverter

Found a bit of info, although it's way over my head. The PI circuit is most likely a form of the "long tailed pair" phase inverter. Some Fenders and Orange use the "Cathodyne" phase inverter circuit. And then there is the one called the "Paraphase". If the PI circuit is LTP then it might be...

AT7 in V3 for phase inverter

I don't know which phase inductor circuit is used in the Fillmore specifically which makes it a bit of a lucky dip as far as how changing the tube type is going to affect the amp, tone or gain structure. I read somewhere that there are three main types of PI circuits used in amps. I can't...

AT7 in V3 for phase inverter

Anyway I've decided it's a bad idea. I don't want to change the gain structure of the amp or compromise it in any way. It was designed to have an AX7 in V3 so that's what I'm going to stick with.

AT7 in V3 for phase inverter

I'm going to get some tubes for my FM100 combo. I've read that some people are replacing the AX7 PI in V3 with an AT7. What would be the results of such a manoeuvre and has anyone tried it in their Fillmore?

Screw protruding from Fillmore 100 head

I’ve just noticed this screw protruding from the bottom of the head of my amp. What’s it for and should it be like this? https://www.flickr.com/photos/194050187@N02/51623481377/in/dateposted-public/ Edit: All good, it is a tension screw and is completely normal in the amp. The screw has been...

    Fillmore 50 Half power switch

This is from the Mesa website on the amplifier features tab for the Fillmore 50, under Power Amp Details, "MESA's proprietary Dyna-Watt™, Class A/B Power Amp with a single, global Full/Half Power Switch - Each setting features a different wiring configurations, Pentode or Triode respectively...

    Fillmore 50 Half power switch

In my FM 100 manual it states that for the 25W or low setting the wiring is switched from pentode to triode. The half setting puts 2 power tubes into standby reducing the power by half.

    stupid quesion

It may be worth asking them to find out why they use shielded for some and unshielded for others. If for nothing else but curiosity.

    stupid quesion

I can't see how it could cause damage if you aren't using instrument cable as speaker cable, surely there couldn't be a large amount of current running through a channel switch circuit but I don't know. There would be good reason that Mesa use speaker cable and not instrument cable. They sell...

A little bit mixed about the Fillmore 50

I would suggest reading the manual, it's very informative.

    stupid quesion

I don't think it is just a regular guitar cable, written on the cable that came with my FM 100 for the footswitch it states HIGH PEFORMANCE 18AWG SPEAKER CABLE. Pretty sure you shouldn't use regular guitar cable for speaker cable or vice versa...

    Fillmore 100 - What’s similar?

I've not tried these amps personally, I do have a Fillmore 100 combo on the way though. Your needs are different to mine but whilst in the process of elimination for all things Boogie I came across the Badlander 100 which may or may not suite your needs if you haven't considered it. EL34's but...

    NAD Fillmore 50 Combo

Thanks for that mate. The rig looks great and I love your telecasters. Do you run each speaker on your Fillmore rig from the 4 ohm outs individually or daisy chain them for a better impedance match, connecting the combo speaker to the parallel out from the ext. cab and run a lead from a single 4...

    NAD Fillmore 50 Combo

Interesting, I've just ordered a Fillmore 100 combo which should be here in a week or so. I can also get my hands on a stock Fillmore 1X12 23"cab with the C90. I'm thinking it would make a good companion for the combo. The combo would sit on top of the cab with no worries wouldn't it? It's the...

Is that a custom Fillmore 1X12 cab with the V30 instead of the stock C90? Open back?
