Mesa Maverick 1x12 Prototype vs regular production

I had a prototype Maverick that looked like a DC series. It had beautiful tone and the ability to switch between silicone and or tube rectifier. I sold it and kind of regret it; but when you have 4 Mesas and a bunch of Fenders it's best to do whatever you need to do to keep the peace at home.

    Reverb.com IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY!

Fedex completely destroyed a guitar shipped to me. It was shipped to me in it's original factory shipping container. Fedex said improper packaging and the seller had to deal with Fedex for 4 months to get my money back. I had to drive the guitar to a far off location to get it returned. And...

    Adding a fan to a DC-3

I just purchased a 50 caliber + that had a fan added at some point in its life. It was done very easily and cleanly just running power soldered from the main AC termination ponts inside the chassis through an small existing hole in the chassis. The fan was mounted in the bottom of the chassis...

Studio .22+ with EQ volume drop problems

It's to bad that Mesa does not have a list of issues and fixes for their amps on their website. Mesa's phone customer service is second to none in my book but as time goes by their techs get younger and they haven't had the full exposure to the many amps Mesa has crafted over the years. I was...

    Mesa Boogie 50 Caliber +

Hello, I have just purchased a 1989 Mesa Boogie 50 Caliber +. A nice clean amp. I've noticed there is a very minimal effect when actuating the Presence knob? I called Mesa and they stated that was about par for this particular amp model. Also it has GT 6L6 power tubes in it and a ceramic biasing...

    lonestar tones

Not trying to be facetious, try using a Strat. My LP does not sound very well out of my DC2 or DC3; but it sounds great through my Fender custom Vibrolux Reverb. Of course I haven't taken much time to dial it in on my Mesa's either.

Thanks, That's exactly what I needed to know. Does anyone know if Mesa will freely give this information up on the phone? Thanks, Dan

Mesa Boogie EL84's matched pairs color code?

Hello, I went to my local Mesa dealer tonight to pickup a set of matched EL84's for my Mesa Studio Caliber DC2. When I get there I see that some boxes are marked match group grey and others are marked match group red. Now I'm confused, is this some "quality' or tone rating like GT has? Does...

Question on serial # for Subway Rocket

Hello, The serial number on my Subway Rocket is SR-00737X. The X is like hand entered with a pen, so it is more of an impression with ink on the aluminum serial number plate? Anyone know if this was factory protocol in some instances or what it might mean? Can anyone tell me the approximate...

    Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket Question

Does anyone have any info on the tan grill cloth on the Mesa Subway Rocket with black tolex? Was that something the factory would just do? Or would it have been special ordered? Thanks in advance, TD

No longer need Mesa email - Advice on changing grills!

If your uncomfortable with doing it yourself, check and see if there's a local upholsterer who would be willing to help you out. I recently regrilled another amp of and went to the local mom & pop custom amp shop here and not only did the fellow have a spare piece of the exact grill cloth I was...

    A Little Dual Caliber Nostalgia

Thanks for sharing. I am the proud owner of a studio caliber dc-2 for two weeks now. It is just the amp I need for the venues I do now. It performs better than expected. I leave my effects pedals at home. The clean channel sounds so good I hardly use any other setting. Some lead, hardly ever...
