    Rectoverb Series 2 Combo Help!

Four screws from inside the shell go through the speaker baffle board. I think with a long shaft phillips you could remove them without pulling the chassis. Easier to just pull the chassis though.

Very nice Vojin. My only complaint...too short, I wanted to listen to more.

    about the DC-3

    From the '96 ProNet Price List: DC-3 Weight (Boxed) : 58 Lbs Dim H x W x D (Un-Boxed) : 18 3/16 x 18 5/8 x 10 5/16 Dim (Boxed) : 20 3/4 x 22 x 14 3/4 Doesn't list the unboxed weight. Can try to weigh mine later.

Need Help w/ adding an extension cab to my DC-10 Combo

Some of the newer manuals have a better explaination (with pictures !) of various load situations. I'm looking at the Nomad manual and it shows as a "Safe Mismatch" hooking the 16 Ohm load into 8 Ohm output and the 8 Ohm load into the 4 Ohm output. On pg 37.

    Volume mod technical discussion....

Nice write up ! I've always thought #1 was the answer. As far as my ears could tell, the mod in no way changed th sound of my DC, it only changed how sensitive the Output Level control was. I am definitely a fan of the mod.

    Pulling tubes and speaker impedance

Check this thread... http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23892 Mesa says don't do it on a DC-3. BTW, I did try it for a short period (15 min or so of playing) and did not find the results to be desirable.

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

OK, 1. The 1.5MOhm/LDR junction : When I first measured it (nothing plugged into front panel input jack), I measured a little over 6 Ohms. Should be zero. Cleaned input jack with a little DeOxit and it went to zero. 2. Measured U1Pin9 resistance to ground. Measured about 700KOhms...

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

Ah, I see the DC for the U1 heater now, missed it before. I can can pull my chassis back out later today and check. I'll check U1 Pin9 to ground resistance. While it's out I'll check the DC heater voltages: 9 to ground and 4/5 to ground and how much AC ripple is on each as well. It will be a...

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

Is the pdf schematic that wrong ??? It shows the heaters are wired parallel @ 6VAC. Pin 9 of U1 should have about 3VAC measured to ground (half of the full heater voltage seen on pins 4/5 to 9).

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

Isn't the input shunted to ground by the input jack when there is NO CABLE inserted ? When I plug a cable in and measure the input resistance on it... On Ryth Chan : 2.49M Ohm On Lead Chan : 399K Ohm Or, am I missing your point all together on the "ground off both wires".

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

Ok, I did not pull that big Xformer connection loose to measure the DC resistance. I don't like those knife edge connections and it worries me that I could make them intermittent, BUT, the voltages are what really matter, right? So, from the Xfmr secondaries: Blue to ground : 49 VAC stdby /...

background noise in DC-3 - help needed!

I can try and measure that later today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not an amp repair person, but not totally ignorant about electronic circuits either. So let me make an observation or two and and ask a question or two also. Feel free to tell me to STFU and I'll butt back out, no...

Help! Sanity Check - Cap Discharge Process

Yep, that's the grabbers I've used. I like having grabbers on both ends instead of the alligator. Easy to reach in and grap the cap's leads even in tight spaces. I like to just clip across each of the filter caps to make sure I'm not accidentally just connecting ground to ground. BTW, the...

Help! Sanity Check - Cap Discharge Process

I've seen that one too. I used to have a Fender HRDx. The 25K Ohm - 10 Watt resistor seems like a good general value. If you had a total capacitance of 400 uF charged to 400 VDC, by my (old and rusty) calculations it should take a little less than 10 seconds to discharge the cap to less than...

How wide is the DC5 Combo?
