    noob requesting some cab help!!!!

The Mesa cabs come with V30's. You may or may not like those. I run Greenbacks with my DR and I think they are great. But each speaker sounds different, so you need to determine what your sound is. Have you cracked open the MG cab? If you have not, you HAVE to do it! You HAVE to see the...

New Dual rectifier owner, effects and fx loop.

Yep, you got it. That's where I would start. The problem is that if you have your channel volume turned up, it will act like the output is turned up as well. Then you kick in the loop and you have to compensate with the output to get the same volume. Once you have them synched up, then you...

New Dual rectifier owner, effects and fx loop.

Well you may want to consider doing the loop mod in the future, but for now, there is a send level for the loop, where do you currently have that? Is it all the way down? Is it noon? The output knob kicks in once you turn on the loop, where is that? Is it all the way down? Give us a bit...

How can i get a better DEATH METAL sound outta TRI-RECTO?!?!

You don't want the boost in the loop. You want a boost out front and an EQ in the loop. Actually, the EQ makes a way bigger difference than the Boost. To the OP, either actives like EMG, or HIGH OUTPUT passives, like Gibson Dirty Fingers are what you are looking for.

fx loop problem in 93 recto...

Is your send level turned up? This may be a dumb question, but I have to ask.

fx loop problem in 93 recto...

Do you have at least a patch cord in the loop? I don't know on your year Mesa, but since mine has been modded to serial, I have to have at least a patch cord from send to return. If I don't I get a faint volume bleed, and that's all.

Dual Rectifier 2 Channel Distortion Issue

If you turn the bass down to say 11:00 and the gain to about 1:00, what happens?

Sell Dual Rec for Mark IV?

I live in MS and I am looking for $1200. I have an offer for $1150, so if I can get $1200 that would be better.

    DR kaput

You should be able to do that to at least figure out the problem. Look at your manual to see what each one does.

    Dual Rec placebo effect?

Ok, so I don't know if this is placebo effect or if it really does sound better. I thought I would play around with my send knob level in the loop and turned it down quite a bit, then turned the master and output to about noon. Cranked her up and played. To me it sounded much much better...

    dual rectifier or roadster

Kind of a moot point if you already placed the order.

Sell Dual Rec for Mark IV?

Ok, I just am not digging the DR that much anymore. I don't play high gain brootalz stuff and was thinking about getting something with different voicing. What do you think about selling the DR for a Mark IV? I need to keep my price down some, so I don't want to spend over $1400.

Volume difference between 2ch recto & 3ch recto

Are your send knobs at the same level? I wouldn't think the different tubes would make THAT big of a difference, but maybe so. What if you swap tubes? Then what? If he is running your tubes and you run his, is his still louder?

    Proud New owner needs help

It depends on the tone you want. I think the Mesa cabs usually come with V30, so the Veteran 30 would be the equivalent. I run Greenbacks in my Marshall cab, so those would be the Green Beret. Tone is subjectiive. I prefer the Greenback tone, but others like something else.

    Proud New owner needs help

Imagine how it would sound with some decent speakers. The MG cab is fine for the MG head, but have you ever cracked that thing open? Take a look at the magnet on those speakers. It's the size of a bagel. If you don't mind the smaller sized cab, you could buy some warehouse speakers and slap...

No offense, but you can get good tone using that cab? I am amazed at that.

    Getting rid of "honking"

I think you are definitely onto something. I run a 10 band EQ in my loop and I turn up the 500 and 2000 hz, but lower the 1K hz. So by boosting the 500 and 2K, it will help get rid of the 1Khz honking. So you are correct as usual in your diagnosis.

Honking? I have no idea what that means.
