    Celestian Creambacks

I'm very happy with the bias mod. I think it fattened things up and took some of the edge off of the top end. I will say though, the stock Stiletto always worked well for me in a cranked up two guitar rock band setting. Right now I'm set up with the mod, Scumback speakers and 6CA7 power tubes...

    Celestian Creambacks

I have Scumbacks in my 2 x 12 Recto cab that I really love but I still have a 2 x 12 Stiletto cab that has the original V30s. I'm debating swapping them out for some more Scumbacks or trying the Creambacks. I bet they would a good match for this amp.

    Celestian Creambacks

Has anyone tried the Creamback speakers with their Stiletto? I'm curious to hear how they worked out compared to the V30s that come stock in Mesa cabinets.

    Organic Timbre

Might sound good with a Stiletto too!

N.A.D. Stiletto Ace head with a Port City OS 2X12 cab

That's a great rig you have there. I agree with everything you said concerning the right and wrong speaker choices for the Stiletto.

    Overdrive pedal for ACE?

I've had a BB Preamp and a Timmy on my board for over a year now. I like both of them with my Deuce.

    Thoughts on Doug's Tubes

Tube rectifiers and the Spongy setting were two features that attracted me to the Stiletto. Once I became an owner though and started to gig with it I found that I preferred using the Bold and diode settings for the same reasons you described. Obviously a personal preference thing. I still like...

    stiletto ace 2x12 tube question

The 6ca7 tube is from the EL34 family so they work fine straight up. If you have a stock Stiletto it has a fixed bias anyway. Just let your tube supplier know that you have a Stiletto so that you can get tubes rated to work with that amp. I had my amp modded so that I can adjust the bias and I...

    stiletto ace 2x12 tube question

I was running the Mullard EL34 reissues for years in my Deuce and was really happy with them. Not too long ago I dropped a set of JJ 6ca7 tube in my amp and wow! Think I might stick with them for a while. For preamp tubes I've got the Doug's Tubes Rock/Hard Rock tube kit plugged in. I always...

    Discovered April Wine ... Wow

Another cool Canadian rocker from the mid to late seventies is Pat Travers. He put out some great albums like 'Makin' Magic', 'Putting it Straight' and 'Heat in the Street'. Actually, he is still making some good blues music now days but I love his old rock stuff. If you like April Wine you may...

    Retube using Doug's Cocktail

Hey Guys! I've been using the Doug's Tubes mix of preamp tubes for quite a few years in my Deuce. I like 'em and haven't bothered to try anything different lately. A few years ago I did switch out the V1 Tung-Sol with a NOS RFT. Man, I loved what that tube did! The problem was, that old brittle...

    RIP Lou Reed

I listened to his 'Rock and Roll Animal' album a lot when I was a kid. Classic Actually, I own a lot of his stuff. Lou was a true original no doubt. R.I.P.

What album are you listening to?

Black Sabbath '13' All things considered, I think it's very good.

Anyone try a Celestion Creamback with their Stiletto?

Yes J.J, I actually listened to a guy playing an Ace 1x12 that had an Eminence Cannabis Rex in it. It was a few years ago but I remember thinking it sounded great! So many options and not enough time or money. Finding our holy grail of tone does not happen over night for a lot of us. It sure is...

Anyone try a Celestion Creamback with their Stiletto?

I hesitate to comment with the typical "No I've never tried them but......" response that you commonly see. I always get a kick out of those. I am curious about the Creambacks too. They seam to be a popular topic on some of the other gear forums. I bet they would be a great fit for the...
