Different Versions of the TX4 Rectifierboard

What are the serial #'s of your different version TX4 pre's? Most of the changes seem to be just better board layouts.

    Triaxis v2.0 LD1 red

Unfortunately, if your Triaxis is the newest one loaded with the TX5 board, they cannot undo the phat mod... it is the phat mod. Also the main pcb is different and even if you were able to get your hands on the TX4 board, you couldn't make it work. Bottom line again is to sell it and get one...

    Triaxis v2.0 LD1 red

I think your problem is that you have the phat mod newest version Triaxis. Lead 1 Red sounds like anus on that version. I had the exact same problem so I sold my newer TA and got an older one with the TX4 circuit. Now Lead 1 Red is my main tone. Literally EVERY tone I dial in on my Lead 1 red...

Bill rules. That's rad that you tried super hard to get it all working. Maybe 1 or 2 audio line transformers could have solved your problem. But in reality, the bottom line is that your rig sounds and looks rad now right!

The ground loop problem has been solved on all of the new decimators (starting about a year ago). They installed 3 ground lift switches (all all inputs/outputs except ch 1 in). I have an older one and installed the ground lift switches. It works wonderfully. The tracking feature of the decimator...

Please help me choose my Triaxis model

I've posted this a million times, but I have owned both. I now have an older V2 WITHOUT the phat mod. I hated hated hated the newest version which has the TX5 board in it. The TX4 board rules. The TX5 version has an abrasive very annoying presence to it's over all sound (even when calibrated...

    TriAxis version questions

Personally, I found that the TX5 version overall had a harsh chirpy presence to it. The Lead 1 red sounded very similar to the other Lead 1 modes and was very flubby sounding. Even with bizarre bass and voicing settings I couldn't dial in a punchy sound. The TX4 version overall has a pleasant...

    If you could choose???

Or if you are worried about rack spaces, consider a triaxis???????

Please help me choose my Triaxis model

100% choose the older one with the recitifer TX4 pcb. The newest revision sounded virtually unusable to me personally. I'm a tech and checked to make sure that the new unit I had was aligned and still the overall presence of the unit was just shrill, chirpy, and unbearable. The Lead 1 red was...

    5Y3 MOD-IS THIS IT?

This is right from the Mesa service manual: Locate resistors R101 and R103 (both 470 ohm / 1-watt), located near back edge of main PC board, on either side of ribbon cable. Remove resistors R101 and R103. This will have a slight (but inaudible) cooling effect on outer EL84 tube pair, thereby...

Schematics for Rectifier Recording Pre and Mesa 2:100 Pwramp

What do you need both for? Are both your units broken?

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Looking at the LS schematic, both the gain and masters are 1MA pots. The difference between the two are probably the resistance curve (linear, etc). In theory then, changing them will not allow you to achieve anything different than the original orientation. I can't handle the voodoo people...

    Triaxis Question

Actually, you can't have a phat modded Triaxis taken to a non-phat modded version because the main TX1 board is different --> it has the new LDR config. Also, Lead 1 Red is NOT the only change in the phat modded versions --> the presence voicing is different and to my ears seemed very harsh and...

Clean 1 issue on a Mesa Quad Preamp

It's rare in my experience to find a Mesa with bad solder joints but check them. Otherwise it could be your LDR's or caps on ch 1. I don't think it's a voltage supply issue as your 2 channels share the same plate voltage. ... ??? I dunno.

    Help:Triaxis phat or not?

The new ones with the TX5 have a completely different main board cause of the different LDR configurations. It's impossible to go to or from a TX5. I think the TX5 is a joke though.. what a piece of crap. I wish Mesa would have kept the TX4 and just redesigned around the new LDR's.

    Help:Triaxis phat or not?

On units that have serial #s T1631 to T8279, there will be a circuit board that is raised above the left side of the TX1 board. This is the TX4 board. This board holds the audio controls for the Lead 1 Red mode. It also holds some of the switching related to the Lead 1 Red mode. Some units...

    Harse hum from 2:90?

You might just have a ground loop problem. Try ground lifting your units or purchase 1 or 2 audio line transformers and place them at the power amp end of the cables (going into the power amp 'in'). Also, to eliminate the power amp as being problematic, plug your guitar directly into the 2:90...

My 2:ninety also died! Repair suggestions?

You probably just have a faulty power tube. Pull all your power tubes and replace the mains fuse -- try powering it up and if it is fine, put 1 set of tubes back in at a time and try powering it up (this is of course if you don't have a tube tester). Your fuse will blow again when you have the...

Is there a new Triaxis ??

I talked to a guy at Mesa and he said they have drawn up the preliminary outline of a new Triaxis but haven't started prototyping it even yet. It sounds like it's going to happen.. and I couldn't be more excited! Mind you, I love my Triaxis.

Need one more thing for my rack! (effects or whatever)

Get something to pull your gmajor and pedals in and out of your loop. Something like the GCX/Ground Control rig. That way you can channel switch your amp and all sorts of stuff like that too! You could also get a power conditioner / voltage regulator, rack tuner, interface, pedal power supply.
