Another vote for the MI Audio Crunchbox - I use it with my 5:50 all the time.

Great playing and a great sounding guitar! It's also one heck of an advertisement for the Mesa Express amp!

Interesting - my 5:50 2x12 only pops if you turn the master power switch off before going into Standby. But the Standby switch is quiet going back and forth from standby to normal.

The only thing is, I feel like I'm not really using the full potential of the amp when I use the clean channel plus an OD box to get a "dirty" tone. But the MI Crunch Box, to my ears, sounds so much better than what I can get from the 5:50's drive channel that that's probably what I'm going to...

Funny, I recently made the same tube swap and last night also pulled out my MI Audio Crunch Box and noticed the same thing - much smoother! And yes, with the AT7 (or any lower gain tube) in V5, you'll have less reverb available. I'll probably put an AX7 back in V5.

I agree - I've used the 10-band MXR on my Express 5:50 and my VHT with no problems at all.

I've used my MXR Carbon Copy in my 5:50's loop quite a bit with no issues - do you have the modulation switch on? If so, try turning it off and see if that helps.

Huh? Not true... You can put most delay, reverb, phaser, flanger, chorus, boost, and EQ pedals in the effects loop.

How do the Tone Tubbys compare tonewise to the Cannabis Rex speakers?

My Digitech RP1000 sounds nice through my 5:50. I don't use the amp and cab sims, but do use the effects. For drive tone, I mostly use the 5:50's channel 2 but the RP1000's TS808 through the clean channel sounds really nice too. As does the RP1000's digital delay and the Lexicon reverbs.
