Very Impressed with the Fillmore 50

Haha, can't say I am surprised to see you in here. The Fillmore seems made for players like us.

Very Impressed with the Fillmore 50

I just joined the club this week (Fillmore 50 1x12). Loving it! I never thought anything could top my Lonestars for gorgeous cleans and superfat leads, but the FM50 is giving them a serious run for their money, and at a non-back-breaking weight to boot. In a way, it's what I've always wanted: an...

LSS Reverb seems not so great - What don't I know?

Hmm, sounds like your reverb just plain isn't working. You can try swapping tubes, but what you describe sounds more like what happened to my LSC long ago, which was that the reverb transformer crapped out. I think it's a fairly simple repair, though I took it to a tech to diagnose and fix it.

New LSC owner needs some info

Well, sssssort of in the sense that there's no MV across the two channels. But not really, because both channels have their own master volume control and preamp control (Ch2 has 2 of them!). Examples of Non-MV amps include your classic blackface Fenders, where there's just one "Volume" control...

New LSC owner needs some info

Just corroborating, as you noted, the channel switching POP is a known issue when switching between channels at different wattage settings, common to most amps that do this as far as I know.

Can Mark V 35 do Lone star clean??

Guys, the OP is asking about the Lone Star Special vs the MkV35, so the power tube stipulation isn't relevant. He asks a fair question because they both use EL84s. Mesa's statement about the V35's Clean and Fat modes being based on the Lone Star is obviously authoritative :) but in practice it...

Mesa Lonestar with closed back cab?

The Mesa Widebody closed back 1x12 with either a Mesa V30 or a WGS ET65 sounds pretty sweet in this way.

    Specifics about LSC vs LSS

The LSS has a little of that EL84 immediacy for sure. Not sure I can answer the question about where the amp starts to break up, knob-wise... all the settings have an affect on that. I will say the LSS has a LOT less clean headroom than the LSC at pretty much any setting. They're very similar...

    Boost for your ED?

Got another angle to throw in here. Anyone try a good treble booster? I picked up an Analog Man Mini Beano Boost and it sounds killer. I *think* between that and a good juicy clean boost (i.e., EP Booster, I'm using a Fulltone 2B Boost b/c of its always-on buffer) I am basically set. I've never...

    Electra Dyne Discussion

Thanks, yeah, that's been my guess and my experience. I guess if I really, really want a "solo boost" I have to involve the loop, which I hate doing but maybe it's a necessary evil. Maybe I can avoid all the extra cable run by employing a remote-activated loop box or something. That doesn't...

    Electra Dyne Discussion

So maybe this belongs in the "boost" thread, but I wanted to ask, generally speaking: Aside from booster/driver functions for more gain/tighter gain/etc., what are folks using for solos? Does anyone use Vintage 1 for "rhythm" and Vintage 2 for "lead" and forego a boost pedal altogether?

Anyone try an ED with 1x12 WB closed back front ported cab ?

Interesting. I have not ever tried the Mesa V30, so I have no point of reference with that. I know Gelb Music in the Bay Area has one of these WB CB cabs with a V30 and the old school Boogie logo on it... I was very tempted to pick that up, but went with the stock one. Hmm.

Anyone try an ED with 1x12 WB closed back front ported cab ?

Hey, just an update on this: I decided to go ahead and try the widebody. My immediate finding was that, unlike in the 27" Royal Atlantic cab, the stock C90 sounded pretty bad in the 23" widebody closed back cab. It's amazing what a difference the cab makes. I know, different design and all...

    My new Lonestar Mini Combo!!

I'll bet it sounds great. And you can always add another cab if you need it to sound "bigger". Very cool.

Thanks Hollis! I have now switched from 6L6s to EL34s and back a few times. I am currently running Ruby 6L6s, and it's true, there's a certain something about the oomph and thwack you get with the 6L6 thing... knowing me, I will likely continue to go back and forth. I want to try a set of...

    Widebody closed back question

Curious about this too. But I'll bet if one of us called Mesa directly about this we'd get an answer. :)
