    Add EQ my C+??????

I would not touch it!!!!! I also believe the non EQ models sound better. Read Mark V manual about EQ vs. NON EQ.

Is an openback cab plus a closed back cab overkill...

Well, it's quit obvious. get a roadking cab and be done with it. Open, closed or both. I can get any tone, period. The 2x12 fits perfectly in most bedrooms.

    V30's & C90's together?

DO it!! I have a road king cab 4x12 and Ill never give up the choice of the 30's, the c90's or both together which is thunderous!! Nuff said!

Mark IIc+ with no EQ question

That's correct it was Doug West. I prefer the non-EQ, it's just my taste. The EQ version sounds incredible, but I prefer the NON-EQ cauz i'm crazy. That means that I'm obsessive compulsive about my Mark IIC+ and want nothing to interfere with my tone chain, especially an EQ. I repeat the EQ is...

First gig with the Mark V (combo): report

MY opinion is that only 90 watts pentode in all channels for live playing and you will not only cut thru the mix you will master, dominate and piss off everybody. The manual suggests this as well. I use 45 and 10 watts for playing at home with the triode.

Setting up the IIC+ Mode to sound like an old IIC+

You can read the manual and it will tell you how to fairly compare to an original markIIc+. But I do own a non-eq version (considered by Doug West to be the better C+), not to say the EQ versions are not as good, they are, its just a matter of taste. In all honesty, the V's c+ sounds great, but...

Thinking of buying a Mark V - seeking opinions

Get the boogie, old Robin Ford is all boogie amps on the recordings. think about that. I dare someone to name a more versatile amp (not a modeling amp) that is more versatile. It does not exist.

    Best overdrive for lead tone

I would not use a pedal. all the great sounds (early EVH) were used with the amp only. Volume gets the power tubes cookin, and that is what every pedal is trying to imitate. I have really cranked channel 3 both Mark IV and Mark IIC+ and have been shocked by the tone. Use the most expensive...

Cabinet recommendations for a Mark V

The roadking cab is perfect 2x12 or 4x12. I mean perfect. REASONS: Just take one second to switch from open to closed, the open back is amazing with the clean channels, the closed back are pure punch punch punch for channels 2 and three. Here is a real ex. from my opening set list. I think...

Mark II C+ EQ or Not?

I have always preferred without the EQ, just sounds sweeter. I was so glad when Doug west wrote his piece in the Mark V manual about preferring without the EQ. I always sensed for me, I repeat for me was sweeter. For all u guys with the EQ, your amp is just as good, just different. DONT TOUCH IT...

    Styles of Music U play w/Mark V?

No amp in my opinion is as versatile (except for the roadking). if you use the roadking cab, think about the possibilities with the mark v. No other company has an amp to compare with the V. For live playing musicians like me everything is covered. Here is an example of a real set played...

How Important Is the EQ on a IIC+?

I have always thought the non eq c+ sounded better. Every single time I compared I convinced every listener. When the manual came out and declared this to be true for a certain Boogie tech, I WAS FLOORED!!!! He does not own one eq C+. There's your answer. Don't listen to me, listen to Boogie...

    Santana's Mesa rig?

I dont mean to be rude, and I apologize for what I am about to say, but PRS amps better than any boogie????????????? Which one are u talking about the Dallas, the Original Sewell, or the Blue Sierra? Read the Vintage guitar write up, Oh yeah, the reviewer said "it beats any boogie ever made...

    Should I get a Roadking 212 Combo??

the recto cab is Mesa's best kept secret. If everyone knew like I do what this thing is capable of, that would be the only cab they would sell.Think about the possibilities, just do the math about the different channels and what side (opened or closed) you would use. When you combine them, both...

Switched To a Road King 2

the road king on channel three, vintage 50 watts is like the manual says, "the creamiest tone we have ever heard" or something like that. The V cannot duplicate this incredible 50 watt tone. I cannot beleive the thin sounds coming out of the c+ mode, the VI is the best but lacks sustain, i cant...

Which cabinet to partner mark v?

I believe the recto RK II cab 4x12 or 2x12 is the best choice for this head IMHO. Think about it: The combos come with an open back with c90's (that's one half of the RK II) and the vintage 30's in the other boogie cabs are great with overdrive (the other half of the RK II cabs). It's perfect...
