New YT Clip - Petrucci Demoing Great Tones From The JP-2C

Yet another video featuring John Petrucci demoing all 3 channels of the JP-2C. Some really great tones in this. The actual demoing of the amp (starting with the clean channel) begins at 51:55: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FazMQa6JLI

MESA/Boogie Tone Summit: John Petrucci, Doug West & The JP2C

Devin Townsend Now Using The JP-2C

I'm a bit surprised how high he is running the bass knob on channel 2, but you can't argue with the tone he is getting: Devin Townsend GearWhore: Mesa Boogie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uiDXyMsPxQ&t=366s

Soon to be new JP-2C owner so lots of questions....

+1 The Mesa 2x12 sounds much better.

Classic Metallica Tones With My Mark IV

"Black Album" tone sounds by far the best here, particularly with the "Wishing Well" riff (imho). I think someone also said this in the YT comments, but I would love to hear a guitar only version of this clip.

New Mark IIc+ Playthrough Video (YT Find)

This was posted just a few hours ago. Thought some here might enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wceCFlnqlMg

Any Mark IV owners compared directly to the JP2C?

This comparison was posted just yesterday on YouTube: "Mesa/Boogie Mark IV vs. JP-2C" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VrPE-Oa6aw There's also a thread about this clip in the Mark Series forum: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=72490

    Mark IIc+ #13015

Yeah, sorry. I bumped this thread when I was browsing the forum and recognized the amp from those YT clips (though in my defense, I only bumped it from the middle of the forum's first page  ).

    Mark IIc+ #13015

I'm almost positive this is the same Mark IIc+ DRG combo in these two youtube clips. They were posted in August and the owner says in the first video's description that he just received the amp, so the dates seem about right from when Ponytrekker posted above that he had sold & shipped the amp...

(YT) Petrucci sees the JP-2C chassis art for the first time.

Pretty cool clip of John being shown the chassis art for the JP-2C at the "Tone Lounge". There's also an interesting discussion on the concept behind the Shred feature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SFwoLkvm4c

JP-2C and Mark V back to back video

I already saw this on YouTube and left a comment there before seeing this thread, so I'm going to be lazy and just copy and paste it here: :P Prefer the JP-2C. The Mark V seems to have a bit of a nasal, slightly muddy quality to it, while the JP-2C sounds fuller and clearer. That being said...

(YT Find) Probably the very best JP-2C demo I've seen/heard

Yeah, that was my 1 qualm too. I started this thread before watching the entire demo (I skipped around through it) and didn't realize there wasn't a lot of chords being hit, which is the #1 thing I like to hear. Still, the heavy tones he gets are very close to my personal ideal tone, and worlds...

(YT Find) Probably the very best JP-2C demo I've seen/heard

I have no idea what this guy is saying, but the tones in this demo are great. Seems to be a pretty thorough demo too, going through all the channels & controls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw7JqGs95qk

New series From Mesa Of Petrucci Demoing The JP-2C On Stage

But wait, there's more (tone's a little too scooped for my taste, but still sounds better than the original demo - IMHO): Petrucci demos the JP-2C at Reverb.com: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKtEm_xvpPg Added this to my OP as well.

New series From Mesa Of Petrucci Demoing The JP-2C On Stage

4 new JP-2C demo clips just posted by Mesa on YouTube (Clean, Crunch, Solo & Shred Mode). I've only watched the Shred Mode clip so far, but the tones are far superior to that of the original official demo (IMHO). Clean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBu8HfOVyS8 Crunch...

    JP2C vs Mark IV

Hey man, I don't have an answer to your question, just wanted to say I remember you posting that second IIc+ clip on the Rig-Talk forum awhile back (I remember the inverted V on the graphic eq). Great tone and equally great playing. :P

JP-2C vs Friedman "Butterslax" (YT Find)

This was posted just today on YouTube and I thought you guys might be interested. Some of the best recorded tones I heard from the JP-2C, especially the lead tone (the great playing doesn't hurt either). I definitely prefer the JP-2C over the Friedman on all 3 channels...

    Is the honeymoon over already??!!

I replied to this thread this morning after being up all night and was tired, not realizing it had a second page and that the Whitesnake question had already been answered.  If you like Sykes' tone on that album, you should check out (assuming you haven't) Blue Murder's first...

    Is the honeymoon over already??!!

Dream Theater's SDOIT is all IIc+ (save for "The Glass Prison", which is a Recto), but on Whitesnake's "1987" album, guitarist John Sykes used Mark III Coliseum heads. These 2 albums are a couple of my very favorite ones for "tone", so I am very familiar with them and know what was used as far...

    New Mesa vids!

Definitely the best sounding of the Mesa produced demos for this amp, though still not as good sounding as some of the non-pro clips I've heard posted from owners on here & elsewhere (all IMHO of course :)) I like how Mesa's Tien Lawrence mistakenly says the name of the amp is "the Mark IIc+"...
