Post your rig - part 3

Here are a portion of my Mesa collection. My Mark amps and my rectifier amps. I'm currently using the JP2C and Badlander the most.

Amp kit that doesn't come with tubes

You can get the kits from ceriatone.com. Shipping is not bad either. I've ordered a few kits directly from Nik.

Amp kit that doesn't come with tubes

I second the ceriatone kits. They have a wide selection and can be purchased without tubes. A JCM 800 is a great option for a first build and can be modded in near limitless ways.

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

I have vactrols but would go for the relay version. I have a few now, but in 10 years probably not.

    Triaxis and Helix MIDI help!!!!

The Triaxis has 99 patches that can be mapped to any of the 128 progam locations. You should check that you don't have program 22 mapped to patch 17.

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

You might be able to get some additional interest from the sloclone.com forums. I You might be able to get some additional interest from the sloclone.com forum. I know a few people there have asked about kids for Mark style amps.

Thoughts on trying the Van Halen Variac trick with a rectifier

I would advise you to not do that. The rectifier's switching circuit uses a LM3914 to select channels. It is a chip that enables the channel at a specific voltage. If you change the voltage of the amp too much the switching might stop working. Also it is not good for the tubes to run their...

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

I'd be interested but I'd need a bit more information before commiting.

Mod rev G into rev F??

The differences are pretty subtle. Switching the loop from parallel to series would be the biggest change. I believe some early Rev. F amps came with the MKIII transformers which changed around the introduction of the G but again, at volume, while playing, in a band, in a less than stellar...

    NAD: Mesa Badlander.

I misspoke when I said less gain. What I had intended was the gain is more focused. There is plenty of gain on tap.

    Wanted Mk4 amplifier motherboard

Just how damaged is the amplifier? The parts do not need to be mounted on the board. Also if the traces are damaged a wire could be ran in place of the damaged trace. You might have your tech provide you pictures as someone on here may know a tech that could do that kind of repair.

    NAD: Mesa Badlander.

Well, it has been a while and I've sold it for $350...... No. I've had more chances to try it out and am liking it more. I've decided my opinion of the gain was just first impressions and expectations. I compared it to the Dual Rectifier above it and am pretty happy with the gain. I still...

    NAD: Mesa Badlander.

It is different than my rack rectifier. I was playing both of them through a loadbox with the same IR and the Dual Rectifier is the tone we all know. But the badlander doesn't feel like it has as much gain and for me feels more like a Marshall.

    NAD: Mesa Badlander.

Picked up a new Badlander today. Haven't had a chance to plug it into a cab yet. Hoping it will be a good addition to my list of amps.

Dual Rec settings and advice needed

Mesa's setup with a parallel FX send splits the guitar signal right before the FX send jack. The guitar signal then goes to the FX send, and to the mix control. The FX return jack is connected to the other side of the Mix control. By adjusting the mix control you can alter how much of the...

    Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

This is pretty much what I was getting at. Any effect would be pretty minimal and more subjective based on a persons expectations. I use relays over LDRs as much as possible. I built a slo100 clone with the NFB switching of a rectifier and used relays because they were less expensive, easy to...

    Mesa Rectifier LDRs vs. Relays

I'm going to post a correction real quick because I was thinking about it and there are three transistors in the signal path in the loop of the three channel rectifier. My previous statements are still accurate with the exception of that correction.
