Who inspired you to play a boogie?

What's funny about this thread is the diversity of the artists that inspired each of us and the radically different sound each artist produced yet at the heart of it all was a Mesa. Nice.

Mark III Solid State or Tube Rectifier?

Yes that is what I'm talking about the sag or inability of the tube rectifier to allow all the current to flow through. It has an affect on the sound. Now there are more efficient and less efficient tube rectifiers each coloring the sound differently, do some solid state rectifiers similarly...

What? I didn't know that! I'm going to listen to that album right now. Back from listening wow that ringing and chimmeyness of those notes. Clear and bell like with a little hair on it. Perfect

Who inspired you to play a boogie?

Don't we all, but that album was released in 1971 so I don't think Boogies were around? It was probably an overdriven Fender Champ or Princeton.

How Close Do Marks Get To Vintage Fenders?

Printed cicuit board. The two vintage channels are great especially the Bassman. Those rivera era super champs are selling for big $ now. But for that style just use a subway boogie.

    Which Boogie's are these?

I thought one was a Mark III. Ronnie moved to a Mark III Combo 12" a few years after this.

How Close Do Marks Get To Vintage Fenders?

Monsta-Tone Thanks for your input, that really is true the tonal difference between Fender and Mesa Boogie or any more complex circuits. I think the brilliance of Leo Fender is how either by accident or genius his simple circuit sounds so good and in turn inspired such greats as Randall Smith...

    Which Boogie's are these?

No they know very little about boogies but there was a page from a magazine scanned into the forum with text identifying the boogies as iii's. Now how much did this mag know about boogies? Probably the same as the stones forum. But Woody did use a mark iii Blue stripe for years. Now both keith...

Ok in this You Tube clip of the Rolling Stones Live at the Ten Spot at 4:13 you get a nice shot of Ron Woods amps. There is a custom Fender a Vox and 2 boogies stacked on one of two Boogie 4x12 cabs. Anyone know which boogies these are? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU3k1WzZwMo&feature=related

I suppose the C+ can solve our nations economic crisis as well.

How Close Do Marks Get To Vintage Fenders?

I believe Randall (like Marshall) used the circuit from the Fender Bassman amp as his template and then stuffed it into a Princeton combo. Nevertheless my goal is to ask as many boogie experts as possible that have experience with both vintage fender and marks their opinion of the similarities...

How Close Do Marks Get To Vintage Fenders?

I've been reading about vintage Fender amps and the genius of Leo Fender and now I'm curious how close in tone our Mark's get to Twins, Deluxes, Bassmans, etc.? Not counting speaker cinfigurations but basic circuitry and tone. Thanks

*PIC* Just bought a Mark IIB!

That looks like the Stones complete backline right in your living room. I love Aerosmith (i put a complete stereo system in mr talarico's house back in the day) and they were always Stones apers looks, drugs and amps too.

*PIC* Just bought a Mark IIB!

While the IIC+ was made famous by metal players, the I and II pre c+ were made famous by the Stones. Some of their 77 tour all of 81 and for a few tours after that the Boogie II in a 180 watt config. were all over their backline. Look at the movie Let's Spend the Night Together" all boogie I or...
