    Mark v (90) + Les Paul + x pickups

Hi Guys, I recently re-acquired a Mesa Mark V big boy. Previously have had a 25 , 90 and JP2c. I love Boogies! I do find that pickup pairings really seem to mattery with this Amp (Jp2c is the same but way more forgiving). I'd like to request what type of pickups you find really Gel well this...

Heavy metal pickups that like the mark v

I really like the Mark V. I just feel like Channel 2 needs just a little more gain (in crunch mode) and I am hoping good heavy metalish pickups will make up that ground. Right now I am looking at the Duncan Distortions, Black Winter and now the JBs. Thank you for the comments! Keep em coming.

Heavy metal pickups that like the mark v

Hi guys Building a new setup, PRS Se single cut with mark v head and mesa 4x12. Shooting for high gain but more old school high gain...thrash and early death metal type. What pick ups would work well in this scenario. Ideally passive pickups. Suggestions?

    Got the pops!

You know whats odd - try switching channels without the footswitch connected (using the little switch on the far right). THe noise doesnt appear on the manual switch mode only on foot switch - i don't know what this means only an observation.

    JP 2C.....holy sh1tballs batman

Had my JP2C for a little over a week now. The JP2C, similar to the Mark V, does require spending some time dialing in the tone, however the JP2C is much more forgiving. It took me this long to find 'the sound' - but holy crap once you find it it is gold. Being a heavy metal/death metal guy who...

    Cabinet Pairing with JP-2C

I'm curious if anyone has tried a JP2C with a Bogner Uberkab - or am I crazy to think that? Uberschalls put out a lot of low end and the Uberkab is there to take that low end. Or do we think it would flub out? The key thing here being a V30 with G12T75 speakers mixed. The other cabinet that...

Mark V 35 at band levels

I think the Mark V 35 loudness question is mostly a problem/concern for rock and metal guys. Why? Because rock and metal drummers like to pound their drums like maniacs (we love you for it tho). I am also curious on if a 35 is loud enough. Long ago I used to have a Mesa 22 watt amp and I jammed...

Ch 2 with FX loop-> sounds like in a tunnel

Guys, I suspect its a simple tube problem. WHen you engage channel 2 AND the effects loop it sounds like its in a tunnel (mild flanger sound). You turn off the FX loop and sounds normal. Doesn't appear to affect ch 1 and 3. Is this a tube issue? If so which one?

Best Delay for Mv in Fx Loop?

My Eventide H9 sounds beautiful - delay's and everything else. It was the first time I used a pedal in effects loops and I didn't have to adjust anything on the amp (levels switchs etc....) If you only want delay Timefactor might be the way to go - but there is not a huge difference in price...

Creative ways to save up for a Mark V?

If you have a corporate type of job that has direct deposit that allows DD to mulitple accounts: have a certain amount of your paycheck like say 5% or whatever works for you to automatically go into 2ndary checking account. This account would be your pile of dough for a rainy day (or Mark 5...

Anyone use Channel 3 for low to medium gain?

I heard someone at a local store mention they use Extreme mode for low/mid gain and that it sounds great. I use channel 3 for a lead tone and it really sings in this regard. What style of music are you going for?

smoking tone - chan 2 Mark I mode

Not really setup to record myself but I'll see what I can do. Couple of things. As the Mark V is very responsive to your guitars tone this setting is as well. On my Axis (which is brigher) I run the presence lower at about 30%. With my JPXI which is slightly darker sounder I run presence about...

smoking tone - chan 2 Mark I mode

Hi guys, I've always had problems getting Channel 2 into high gain territory without it sounding weird. Anyway after experimentation found this sound. It sounds great for leads and rythem - I used preset EQ at about 45%. It sounds good with EQ on or off - if you want more extreme gain use EQ...
