Why is the F series not more popular?

I have an F-30, excellent amp. I think the F series never caught on because they don't sound like the typical Recto or Mark. I was getting excellent chimey cleans and a nice hard rock crunch out of my F-30. the good - user friendly, easy to dial in - less expensive than other Mesas - separate...

    Whats your favorite Boogie!!!

My favorite is the F-30 combo. It has the right clean and distorted tones for the music I play. It is easy to transport. It was easier on the wallet than most other Mesa amps. 8)

    Volume pedal?

I play a Parker Nitefly and use an Ernie Ball stereo volume/pan pedal. Parkers can run both pickup and piezo outputs at the same time. I send the pickup output to a Mesa F-30 combo, and the piezo output (sounds similar to an acoustic) to a Fender Acoustasonic 30, and use the Ernie Ball pedal to...

    F series is discontinued

This gives them an excuse to offer a "reissue" F series in the future.

Using guitar synth effects with a MarkIV..

A guitar synth really needs a full range amp (keyboard or pa) to sound it's best. Some of those sound patches (especially the bass tones) can potentially damage your amp because it's speakers were selected with guitar frequencies in mind. It might be ok if you stick with tones that are similar...

How do you handle loud volumes--neighbors

I have a different rig for practising at night. I use a POD XTL and a set of KRK reference monitors. During daylight hours, I'll use my amp but still won't run it that loud. I found that I could hear it better and keep the volume lower if I keep it on an amp stand. I live in an apartment and...

Who plays for 20 minutes ...

I'll use the amp if I think I'll be playing for 15 min or more, otherwise I'll use my POD xtl/computer rig.

What do you stick in front of your MESA

Nothing out front of my F-30, though I might try connecting my Pod XTL in the effects loop so I can add some digital delay.

What made you decide to buy a mesa boogie?

I took lessons from a fusion player in Augusta GA who used a pair of dual recs for gigs. This shattered the "Mesa amps only do metal" myth for me. I also like some of John Petrucci's tones, and he's used Mesa for years. Also, I have owned some Line 6 modelers and I often found myself using recto...

GCs don't carry Mark IVs anymore?

A GC opened here last June. I haven't seen them carry a Mesa product yet. :(

    Recording the Mesa Sound ...

I live in an apartment, so the ability to record direct is important. I have an F-30, but haven't tried the recording output yet. I do keep an SM57 around for whenever I think I can get away with playing louder. 8)

Anyone put tiltback legs on a Mesa?

I got an amp stand instead.

UPDATE: What'd I do? I went to record a heavy song, but....

This is why I own a Variax. As long as I keep it, I've got plenty of different sounds covered. This allows me to trade, sell, or get whatever other guitars I have without losing LP, Strat, and Tele tones.

    Mesa @ Guitar Center

Thanks for the warning, I recently purchased a set of krk monitor speakers using their credit card program.

    F-30 for crunchy metal sound

I have owned an F-30 combo for a little over a year. My amp is stock, I have made no modifications and still use the factory tubes. My impression of the F-30 combo is that it has more of a hard rock sound than metal. You can get a tone suitable for some kinds of metal by engaging the contour...

newbie and sorry but help is required

Avoid the AVT series. I used to own an AVT20. You could dial in only a couple of good tones with those amps. Also, they really lack in terms of reliability, my AVT20 was actually replaced with a new one under warranty.

Who's afraid of the big fat bass?

I dig the simplicity of the F-30, I don't know if I'd ever get it right on one of more complicated Boogies.

    Opinions on Parker Fly?

I own a Parker Nitefly (the USA bolt on, not the import P series). It isn't a set neck like the more expensive Parkers, but it does share some of the same characteristics such as the stainless steel frets, carbon/glass composite fretboard, and Parker designed bridge. I find the ss frets make...

Who prefers piezos to a real acoustic?

I prefer having a piezo guitar because I've got limited space. I think an acoustic would sound better, but I don't have enough room for anymore guitars.
