    JP2C, 4CM FM3

Wow, that's a major difference, ok that master level with the TS makes alot more sense. So yea the FM3 either has a problem with the input buffer or the snd/rvc block's output send to the amps input is really low. Sounds like you have a solution.

    JP2C, 4CM FM3

Ch 2 / 100W master @ 2:00 (y) that'd get my attention  Ok yea then it seems like something else is going on with that FM3 input, should be able to turn down and have the noise go away. The only other thing that comes to mind... is there an input gain adj on the FM3? The Boss has an...

    JP2C, 4CM FM3

FWIW I've never been hands on with the AXE, but use BOSS and 4CM mode exclusively with an assortment of Mesa amps. Noise was at times an issue with my GT-100, cables that were ~10', anything longer the signal loss also became an issue. It was tolerable but not optimal. Things greatly improved...

JHS Little Black Box in a Triple Rectifier

 I have to remember that one.

Is the FM3's amp modeling any use to you? I am just curious how long are the cables for send/return/amp in?

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

In the FWIW dept... I didn't love the Recto 2x12 in it's original form. For me it was too much v30 mid range hump goodness. Since my buddies 2x12 Road King cab rocked, made some simple mods. Had the MC90 paired with a v30 initially, which was great. Did end up swapping the MC90 out for a...

Mark V 90W combo speaker change

IIRC that the pairing in the Road King Cab :) Not sure if you can get them anymore. Road King 2x12

    Badlander mods?

FWIW another BAD 100 vid with Mr Scary. :) Actually not bad as comparison vids go, it outlines the differences well. Mr Scary I do have to admit some admiration for the logo, it's kinda cool :D:D

Vintage Mark-style PCB and chassis kit

Very cool... going to assume you've bench tested some of the PCBs to some degree? :)

    Dual Rectifier characterizations

FWIW spent a good deal of time messing with the original Captor and silent recording. It was never a perfect solution, attempting to use it as an attenuator always seemed to color the tone in some sort of negative way, mostly a thinning out of the overall tone with increased harshness. As a...

Should Mesa Have Called it Something Else?

Just one man's opinion :) Agree the digital stuff has come a long way. Have gone back and forth a few times over the years between digital vs tube amps but alas for me there was something still missing, especially live. What I hear and feel is an underlying similarity of the amp models. No...

Should Mesa Have Called it Something Else?

I've played the Fillmore a few times, not BAD  but from what I remember the cleans were more on the Fenderish side and pristine. Much more V and LSS like. I find the BAD Clean way more gritty and gainy, not that easy to get it to sparkle in the same way. Similar to my Stiletto Ch 1...

Should Mesa Have Called it Something Else?

Yea no doubt, Doug West talks that point up. However I find the BAD 50W a nice logistic compromise, compared to my others. It's compact enough and at 36lbs not too bad to lug around. The 20W switch to triode is one I tend to prefer tonally.

    No power to tube fan?

Well that a strong clue it's the low voltage diode issue. This is a typically a straightforward fix to replace the 4 bridge rect diodes. If you can find one within driving distance. For this issue I'd think an authorized Mesa repair shop can take care of that for you. Find a Mesa Repair Shop

    No power to tube fan?

Is the fan switch off? If not, then perhaps check the fan leads from the unit for a voltage between 9-12vdc. If it's low then maybe there's a problem the 12v circuit which the fan voltage is tapped from. It's been a known issue on V:90s that the bridge rect diodes can fail.

Should Mesa Have Called it Something Else?

oh yea the Maverick... totally forgot about that one  yea my buddy has one, fun amp to play. But every time I do, it reminds me of my LSS. That's even more of a Rect misnomer then the BAD. In fact IIRC Andy Timmons was 1st using a Maverick before he went onto the LS.
