i HIGHLY prefer CL80 to both. i tried playing (all in half open back) V30, CL80 and C90 from my Mark V and i find it too harsh on C90 (except cleans, cleans are awesome), the V30 never really did it for me, but the CL80 does it buttersmooth. of course its all subjective

yes you can. You can do it via Slave Out which includes the power amp section, or you can do it via FX send (but that way you take the signal out of the amp basically disabling the MKV power amp) You have to be aware that some modes take extensive use of the poweramp section, Mark I mode in CH2...

its resistors, and its capacitors, and before you do that i suggest the following: 1.) hotter pickups 2.) booster 3.) tubes with higher rated gain factor. 4.) EL34 powertubes because, the CH3 in mesa already has a lots of gain. and i mean, A LOTS of gain.

thats just the thing, i wanted to kick the gain down a notch. Well, you should be suprised i tried the AU7. :lol: CH3 really sounds wierd completely clean even at 11 o clock gain. :) i now threw the AU7 out and put the AT7 on V3 position and i love it. i really enjoy the crunch channel now...

i find mark V's fizzy on some voicings too. particularly MK IV and MK IIc+ mode on CH3. i swapped the V3 tube for an ECC81 and like it much better now. I also tried to play it on an V30 (which i HATE by the way) and it sounded less fizzy than the C90.

hehe, yeah... it was the same with me. i hated it at first and the whole idea of "preset V" but its a really nice curve and used subtly it gives just a little hair and oomph to the sound. its a great idea. footswitchable preset/graphic.

the third tube socket is a tad loose.. i can wiggle the whole socked with the tube a little. its still running its STOCK TUBES, i wanted to swap it with JJ's and noticed it. is it a problem? the amp works a-ok otherwise.

i hot it about 30% off the usual price in europe but i imported it from croatia to europe. if you consider that it is also cream bronco than about 35-40% lower than the usual european price. and it was brand new. europe has awful prices on m/b.

i think its based on CL80 anyway. If you turn up the presence while using preset EQ things get pretty harsh - crappy tubes doesnt help either.

Any cab with C90? i have a c90 in my combo and it works just well with it. also with Classic Lead 80 which is predominantly a bright speaker, but i do run presence at 0 almost all the time.

dont forget the presence. while it might not affect the actual volume it does affect the perceptual volume. :)
