    frustrated again with rhythm 2!!!

In my experience, and it's based on a Mark IVa, you'll do well to go pentode, full-power, and possibly even simul-class, with pentode being the most important factor. I've had good luck with both EL-34s and 6L6s. From there, I like: R2 Gain: 7-10 pulled (or less depending on master volume...

The greatest Mark IV setting I have ever heard!!!

Hi Michael You can find it at http://torquey.ooblez.com. I'm not the original source, some kind BB member posted it a while back. Incidentally, when I bought my Mark IVa new, it also came with a cardboard reference guide which had some different settings. If I can dig mine up, I'll post...

Is v4 or v5 phase inverted in Mark IV type-A models?

Is v4 or v5 phase inverted in Mark IV type-A models?

In case you want a copy of the original MarkIVa user's manual, you can find it here. Someone posted a scan to the Boogie Board a while back.

Is v4 or v5 phase inverted in Mark IV type-A models?

According to the Mark IVb manual, v5 is the phase inverter, and I'm almost certain that's the case with Mark IVa amps as well. V4A is the second lead high gain stage and V4B is the reverb send. So on a MarkIVa, the 12AT7 should be V4 and the low-noise 12AX7 should be V5. The Mark IVa mentions...

Attenuator for Mark IV - is it worth it?

I use a THD Hotplate (8 ohm) with my Mark IVa and like it quite a bit. That said, I don't employ it in order to achieve power tube saturation; in my experience the Hotplate doesn't work well in that fashion. Instead, I typically set it up to knock of 4-8db, allowing the amp to open up into...
