Ah I was hoping you'd post this Tom! I'm the rhythm guitar player from hammer of Justice, I also don't post here very often but this is the right place to talk about metallica sounds of course. The guitar sound is 4 separate tracks through the Mark III, 2 were recorded with a Ibanez RG 550...

Ok, I will try it anyway. And if I like it I can use my midi switcher to switch r2 and lead on always, or just use it as a solo boost for some more sustain.

I still have to try this with my III, does it boost the volume as well or is it a pure gain boost?

Way too long since I've posted here, so here's a recent shot of the boogie rig: Mark III red stripe simul/EQ/Reverb Recto traditional 4x12 with two EVM 12L's in the bottom. Rack: Rocktron Replifex, Korg tuner and Gemini power conditioner, everything is switched on the back through an Exef...

I switch channels on my III with a laney babelswitch. Switching jack for lead/clean is located on the front below the input. On the back under the chassis are the switches for R2 and EQ/Rev if available on the amp.

A small update on the JJ's: I noticed that I no longer need to have the master pulled, just a bit more bass in the EQ did the trick and the sound is a bit more open, yet it remains very tight.

I play quite loud as well, but am sure hoping to get more than three months out of them though!

I used to have a pair of EHX El34 in the outer sockets and NOS 'coke bottle' Sylvania 6l6's which sounded great. I have a complete JJ retube set now (6L6 and El34L) but only did one practise session with them so really can't tell much about the difference yet. As for preamp tubes: tung sol...

Ok guys, I've got a reply from the european sales from EV and they told me these are EV DL-12 BFH 's , a powerful woofer for PA purposes. Too bad, would have love to pair them up with my celestion V60's in a ENGL 4x12 . Thanks for the responses!

But looking at the frame it does seem to be an electro-voice right? I haven't found anything that resembles these yet...

Hope someone can help me on this one: I found (not purchased yet) a pair of 8 ohms EVM 12L speakers, but the magnet size seems off, being slightly smaller. The frame looks identical though, but the print does not seem to say EVM, maybe it is a different OEM model in the EVM range ? Thanks...

Ok, I just saw them with dots, and smaller bodies, yours looks much nicer!

I also use MIDI control over a mark III (with use of a Laney Babelswitch), but never switched the EQ/Reverb yet, guess i need a simple stereo cable for that. I haven't tried the 'fourth' sound yet, is it useable, or just over the top with massive amounts of gain?
