So what is a Stiletto Trident???

The Stage I Stilettos were not very "gainy" IMO and the bottom end could be very flubby if not dialed in correctly. The Stage II Stilettos were much better in the gain department. The Duece is a much more useable amp at club volume levels. It seemed to break up a little better than a Trident...

    Dual Rectifier Problem

What dealy are you using?? I know for fact that the LINE6 dealy pedal [the big one DL4] will NOT work in the fx loop correctly. There will be a level mismatch with this unit. Its only designed to work at instrument level. Even on the front end of the amp it caused a big tone change. It muffled...

    Dual Rectifier Problem

Guitar Center sales people work on commission. They don't sell the right stuff, they sell the highest profit margin stuff to get PAID at the end of the day. Someone once told me their average turnover is 90 days for a sales person. Most of them have no clue what it is you're asking for, so how...

REctoverb problems :( hum from hell1

Is it a hum like 60 cycle AC humming, or is it more like a rushing roaring noise?

    Triple Rec/GCX popping

Does the amp pop when switched manually or with the Boogie footswitch? I know in the Dual Recs, there are several JFETs in the Mute Circuit and sometimes they will go bad and you will get that pop when switching channels. If the amp does it without the GCX, I'd say take it to your tech and have...

    Dual Rectifier Problem

If the caps were going bad [which I have seen recently in a couple of newer Dual Recs] the clean channel often times will tend to have a fuzzy non pleasant strange distortion following the notes when played. You will also notice it on the distortion channels, but you may have to listen closer...

    Tremoverb Design Flaw?

I just checked the schematics I have for a Dual Rec 3 channel and the grid resistors are spec'd at 1k 2watt. I can't say what they did in the Triple Rec. They did however get it right in the Stiletto starting with Series 1 they are spec'd at 5 watts since this is a dedicated EL34 amp.

    Preamp tubes

I re-tube amps for a living, and right now I'm having the best luck [believe it or not] with the Sovtek 12ax7LPS tubes. The LPS stands for LARGE PLATE, SPIRAL FILAMENT. They are supposed to be quieter in amps with AC heater circuits. I stopped using the EH tubes because I was getting too many of...
