Look, the AxeFX is a really great piece of sound equipment. All I'm saying is that at the end of the day, after almost a year of owning it, it feels like a toy to me. After I finish playing through it, I look forward to getting on a real amp and playing. Maybe it psychological, maybe there is...

Well, its been 3 months and I still can't find work that will support my family. I found a lot of low paying jobs, but nothing close to what I was making before. I'm not being a prima donna, I don't mind taking a pay cut, but it has to be enough to pay my bills, at least. How are you guys...

Don't get me wrong, if you like it, more power to you. I guess that I am too picky when it comes to my tone.

The VH4 is a different beast than the Triple Recto. It is much tighter and stiffer feeling and it has more upper midrange available than the Recto. You can scoop the sound if you want, but you can make it sound similar to a Marshall or Mesa MK amp if you want. Not exactly like those mentioned...

Overall, I don't care for the AxeFx myself. I have had one for almost a year and update it regularly and it still sounds like a modeller to me. It is probably the best modeller, but still a modeller. I love it for its effects, though. It has a very steep learning curve. It has so many options...

Seriously, this looks like the real thing, but with so many flakes out there, I'd like to see the pics of the tranny id's before I would consider this amp.

I spent some quality time with this amp at a local shop today and all I can say is I want one! But, it will have to wait a while.......funds are low at the moment...hopefully all the minor bugs will be worked out by then.

I have replaced these before. The solder is on the bottom side of the pcb. You have to take all the nuts off of all the controls and the screws off of the PCB in order to have acces to the bottom of the PCB.

Well, I have gone over to the dark side: I love my MKIII Greenie, but my Carol Ann OD2-100 is the bomb. The THD is used only as a power amp for the effects tone.

I've owned both a MKIVa and a MKIVb, but IMO the my MKIII green stripe sounds so much more open and aggressive in both the R2 and lead modes than either MKIV's. The clean channel also sounds richer than the MKIV's. The draw back of the MKIII is certainly the fact that the tone stack is shared...

Even though the H&K has more bells and whistles, the Lone Star Classic is definitely a more "organic" sounding amp. If I were in your shoes, I would sell the H&K...... :mrgreen:

Yes, SS rectified. My OD2 100 came in, but was sent to Carol Ann for upgrades. When I get it back, I'll do more clips.
