    Quick Studio Pre question.....

I posted about my call to Mike B a while ago. The Studio Pre and Quad are both based on the C+ circuitry. He says it's extremely close as is. He says the recording out circuit loads the signal a bit, so it will be slightly darker than the actual C+. If you want to get slightly closer (probably...

Question about the IIC+ mod for the Studio Pre

What power amp? To begin with, it's based off the IIC+ circuit, it's just not exactly the same. Mike B. told me that he doesn't really think it's worth it, especially before you do a few other things that he thinks make a bigger difference. It should be paired with a 50/50 or Mark IV power...

Vintage Guitarist needs "Modern Amp" help

The F-30 could be good for you. It sounds good at low volumes. I hear a lot of people talk trash about its gain channel, but you just have to keep the gain knob below or at 12:00, and be very exact with it to get the gain you want. Its clean channel is one of my favorites. The sound I get...

    IIC+ mod to Quad?

I never posted A/B clips of that, but I did mess around with it for a bit and basically I didn't notice a difference.

Where Is The Reverb In a Studio Pre?

Yeah, that sucks. On the upside, reverb tanks are pretty cheap: http://www.hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/perlshop.cgi?ACTION=thispage&thispage=parts16.htm&ORDER_ID=415289519

    First Gig with Triaxis

Well if it sounds fine at home and bad at the gig, what are you turning up to get more volume? If you're just turning up the power amp, then it's the power amp's fault. Maybe the GT8's hitting the triaxis input too hard?

    Quad and 50/50 for sale

Also, reverb tanks are pretty cheap. If it's really a dealbreaker for a potential buyer, I'll gladly purchase the replacement tank and install it; it's not too hard. Frankly I've never found myself wishing that I had a shorter reverb tank for the Channel 2. Personally I think it's cooler to own...

    Quad and 50/50 for sale

I think I'm going to be selling my quad. I love it, but I don't get to use it enough because I'm away at school, and I could use the cash for other things. It's in good condition. It's one of the few quads with built-in MIDI support, but when I bought it, the MIDI wasn't working. So it's...

FS: Mesa 50/50 Power Amp - $440 or best offer

This 50/50 is in okay cosmetic condition. There is some rack wear, and the rack ears are a little bent, but it works just fine for mounting to a rack -- the only problems are cosmetic. It's been retubed with JJ 6L6es from eurotubes which only have a few hours of playing on them because I haven't...
