    Advice Regarding Mark V Problem

The V8 was dead. I replaced the inner pair (V8 and V9) and it’s back to normal. The sound with the bad tube was like a slightly reduced volume with a harsh, gated attack. Almost like when you ping on a high fret. I’m actually surprised it worked as well as it did with a bad V8.

    Advice Regarding Mark V Problem

Definitely a bad V8. I have two matched pairs of Groove Tubes 6L6 in the house. Debating whether I should change just the inner pair (V8 and V9), or all four.

    Advice Regarding Mark V Problem

Thanks. Oddly enough, it happens in all three power modes. So it looks like I’m replacing all four tubes. It’s especially prevalent on a C on the G string and the G above it up on the B string. You can really hear it in that range. Like a weird, sharp secondary edge. Like it’s farting...

    Advice Regarding Mark V Problem

In the last two days, I’ve noticed something off about my Mark V. Yesterday, I heard a harsh ghost note on the G string mostly of my Tele. Made me switch to the Les Paul. But it seemed weird. That Tele sounds fine through other amps. Today, I grabbed a Strat and it was worse. My guitar...

Mark V Starting Point for Clean Hiwatt Tones

Thanks for the reply. Kind of a bummer. My Mark V spends a lot of time right next to my Allen Encore (Vibrolux-based) and/or my Trinity 18 (Marshall clone). So it's really, really easy to use an A-B pedal to go back and forth to learn how to be able to dial in BF Fender tones or old style...

OFFICIAL MARK V TONE SETTINGS THREAD

I started another thread, but maybe this should be here. 1) Which of the three clean modes on channel one would be the best starting point for dialing in a Hiwatt type clean tone on the Mark V? For example, I know that I'd use the Tweed mode if I wanted to use channel 1 for Fender Tweed type...

Mark V Starting Point for Clean Hiwatt Tones

Dang! I was hoping somebody had some ideas. To date, my solution to creating a "faux Hiwatt" has been to use a Catalinbread RAH pedal set as clean as possible (very limited) at the end of the chain feeding either my Allen Encore (Vibrolux clone) set clean or the Clean mode of channel one of...

Mark V Starting Point for Clean Hiwatt Tones

First time posting... I have a Mark V. I’ve been very interested with the idea of the classic Hiwatt DR103 as a pedal platform ala David Gilmour. But I already have too many amps! I’ve been thinking that the Mark V is very versatile. One of the clean channel modes “should be” a good...
