After reading and looking at all the information I could gather, I successfully did the R2 mod myself. Pretty easy to do. I abandoned the direct out and wired to the direct out pot. and plugged the hole where the jack was.

Try screen door weatherstripping with peel off adhesive on one side. Any hardware store should carry it.
