    Mark IV Recommendations

I like the JJ 6l6'Ssfor sure they are available with double mica's which make them sturdier IMO. For preamp tubes I also prefer JJ's. For V1 and V2 a good JJ ECC83 for warm tones and in the rest I prefer JJ ECC83MG. For the warmest tones use all JJ ECC83 and for the brightest tones use JJ ECC803...

    Mark IIC+ 60 Watt

So I located C12 and clipped it. That did make a significant difference though there is still a difference between the two. I set the gains very close to each other and switching between them there is still more bottom end on thr clean channel, but it is a lot better.

So Baritone, I'm having trouble locating C12 can you point me in the right direction?

The Brown Tolex was a custom order but back then they did not charge any extra for custom colors, now they charge a pretty penny. Here is mine, I had it recovered at Mojo Tone.

I will definitely give that a try and will report back.

OK after getting Mesa to do the mod I realize my mod was working I just didn't think it was. I will say the mod pretty much sucks, the channel is still like some kind of wide open thing though the mod does allow you to get a better volume balance. The mod I think I'd be looking for is turning...

    Reverb.com IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY!

Sounds like the OP had insurance since he said Fedex denied his claim. Fedex, UPS and the like almost never honor their own insurance, IMO it's a scam. This really sucks for you OP, I hope you at least get the amp back. I have never liked Reverb and will not use it. Please let us know how...

Studio .22 Mod? Balancing Volume Between Channels

Also Mesa charged me less than they told me on the phone. I was quoted $150.00 for the mod and checkup and I assumed that didnt include shipping. They charged me $131.00 with shipping.

Studio .22 Mod? Balancing Volume Between Channels

I've been hitting my 22+ with an OCD V3 with really good results. That being said my 22+ is due to arrive back from Mesa with the lead drive mod. I will report back on how I like it. Also just got my 22+ combo cab back from Mojotone yesterday. I had it recovered with their Carolina Blue tolex...

With the Studio 22 you nead lead drive mod and lead master mod I believe. With the Studio 22+ you need the lead drive mod.

Studio .22 Mod? Balancing Volume Between Channels

You can send your amp to Mesa and they will mod it to have a Lead Drive and Lead Master control. My Studio 22+ is at Mesa right now getting the Lead Drive mod.

    Studio 22

Well I shipped the little bugger to Mesa yesterday to get the mod. I will report back when I get it back. Also I shipped the combo cab to Mojotone to have it retolexed. I decided on their Carolina Blue Tolex and their Small Weave Cane grill. Im really liking the 22+ except for the lead channel...

Studio .22 Mod? Balancing Volume Between Channels

I'm not familiar with the 1.1 but I think it would be a totally different Mod. The issue with the 22+ is the insane amount of gain on the lead channel that is non adjustable. I would like to get my 22+ to have two clean channels both in gain and EQ and then use a Overdrive Pedal to take either...

Agreed the WGS speaker I installed is 75 watt speaker and works great, not saying a Greenback wouldn't work well also but wattage has nothing to do with sustain. Feedback has to do with sustain. I like the stock speaker as well.

Resurrecting this thread. I picked up an excellent condition 22+ of which I replaced the filter caps and changed the speaker to a WGS G12C/S. For the filter caps I used a 47uf Nichion in place of the stock 30uf, just to let a little more bottom through. I added the .022uf to the .001uf cap...
