    Fillmore 50 vs California Tweed

Would love to hear other opinions on this? I've got a California Tweed (40w) combo with the Jensen Blackbird speaker (lower wattage version) and it is one of my favorite all time amps. Super easy to dial in ... gorgeous cleans ... takes pedals well and sounds great at moderate volume levels...

How has the fillmore been received? Flop or hit?

I've got the 50 watt Fillmore Head and absolutely love it. Beautiful Blackface type cleans and plenty of overdrive, at least for me ... Lush reverb as well. Extremely versatile amp and brilliant layout essentially giving you two versions of the exact same amp in one box. Very clever.

Incoming TA-30 ... Anticipation is killing me!!!

That tweed mode maxed out with gain (gain knob pulled out and dimed) is one very raspy and cool sound with the bridge pup on a Les Paul ... I'm totally with you on the Top Boost tone ... It's FANTASTIC ... Loves pedals too ... I can't say enough about this amp, should have gotten one years...

Incoming TA-30 ... Anticipation is killing me!!!

Now that I've had a few days to play it here are my impressions. I've owned Mark IV, two Studio Pre's, a 20/20 and a Mark V 35 so most of my experience with Mesas is with the Mark style amps. In general, I liked the TA30 from the first chord. Easy to dial in ... more variety of sound than...

Incoming TA-30 ... Anticipation is killing me!!!

Thanks for the detailed reply. Can't wait to fire it up when it gets here. I'm most interested the top boost AC30 mode and the gainy Marshall mode. I'll report back on how it sounds.

    Mark V Again

Could not agree more on the clean channel. Pedals sound incredible. I've pulled my SDD 3000 out of the effects loop to just run it in front of the clean channel and WOW! The clarity, punch and overall immersiveness of the sound is nothing short of amazing.

Incoming TA-30 ... Anticipation is killing me!!!

Had a Mark IV for about 15 years and loved it ... Then did a detour for about 7 years with Fenders, Egnaters, Marshalls and a Friedman ... Recently got a Mark V 35 and like it so much I sold off most of my other amps. Really missed the Mark sounds and glad to have them back. I remember...

The next Mark - what would we need?

For me, the next Mark would not need new tones, it would be the user interface I'd like to see changed in a way where I could have 15 or so presets so I could quickly and easily utilize all the sounds possible in this amazing amp. I could easily find 7 usable tones on channel one alone. I'm...

    Mark V Again

Agree that the Mark V is the best sounding and playing amp I've ever had ... been through a lot of amps. It's an amp that just takes you to another level ... the dynamics, clarity, thump, chunk, sustain, liquid or grind, and responsiveness ... It's a very unique playing experience that allows...

MARK FIVE 25 TONE SETTINGS THREAD

I use the EQ often as a mid boost as opposed to the V setting. Kind of a slight reverse V can sound cool with some guitars. I also use it as just a simple volume boost as well ... all sliders up equally ...

    Mark V:25 vs Mark V:35

For me, the main advantage, and it's a substantial one between the 25 and 35 is the foot switchable solo boost for each channel. Can be used in several different ways. Along with the EQ it's a lot of flexibility and in conjunction with the guitar volume knob enables a lot of clean, crunch and...
