    Bought a Mark VII!

It's been longer than I can remember since I've bee using a Line 6 POD HD500 or a DigiTech RP360Xp in the FX Loop of ALL my amps. I'm one of those awful Marshall guys and I've never run anything in front of my amps. Not even to "tighten" up the sound. LoL I run EL34 tubes and the Variac mode on...

    Bought a Mark VII!

This is why I'm so glad I got my Mark Five not long ago right about the same time they came out with the Mark VII. I glad everyone likes the missing Master Volume. I wouldn't like not have a Master Volume. for playing live. The other Guitarist in our band used an EVH 5150III with no Master...

    Do you feel it’s a waste…

NO ! I specifically bought a Mesa Boogie Mark Five 1X12 Combo and a Mesa Boogie Vertical 2X12 cab for home. I specifically bought a Marshall JVM410 and a Marshall 2X12 cab for at home. I loaded the Marshall 2X12 with one V30 and one G12-K100 I specifically bought an EVH 5150III 1X12 Combo and...

Mark Five head and 4X12 cab switchable 16 ohm or 4 ohm

Yes, you're right. I was using the 16 OHM cab on the 8 OHM output for a while. I think I'll just switch the cab to 4 OHMs and use the 4 OHM output. I was just looking for opinions.

Mark Five head and 4X12 cab switchable 16 ohm or 4 ohm

I have a Mark Five head and a 4X12 cab (v30's) I would like to know what you think is the best way to plug this cab into the head. I currently have been running the cab with the switch to 16 ohm into the 8ohm (combo) socket on the amp head. I'm going to try changing the switch on the cab to 4...

Who is running EL34s in their V:90s?

There something I have to get from the clean channel of any amp. The Marshall DSL amps give it to me easily. The Marshall JVM410H won't give it up quite so easily, actually not perfectly at all. I think some of the problem with the Marshall JVM410H is have the right speaker for the sound I'm...

Who is running EL34s in their V:90s?

I switched the 6L6s in my Mark Five to EL34's and it helped me get to where I wanted to be. I've been playing Marshall amps since 1985. This is my first Mesa. I've got mine sounding like "fire". I almost sounds perfect and now I try to match other amps to sound as good, even the Marshall amps...

Mark V Combo gain controls in channels 1 and 2 cause crackling/hissing noise when rotated

Try turning ALL the knobs from zero to ten about 50 times each. (on every amp you own). I'd suggest doing it at least twice a year. I some times use a flat shoelace on the knob to make it happen. You're lucky the sound was only "a pretty noticeable crackling noise or white noise" and that you...

help with mark v 90 tone

I'm new to Mesa and plenty of folks here said I was"180° away from everybody else’s around here!" However here the settings I'm using. https://boogieforum.com/threads/mark-five-variac-power-and-el34-power-tubes.87433/post-536346 I have tweaked them a little since these photos, but so will you...

Hey...old Marshall guy with his first Mesa amp. Stiletto Ace

Blaren, I also just recently got my first Mesa(s). I have at least 10 Marshall amps, and I'm most likely also a "Marshall Guy." I got a Mesa Mark Five head and a Mesa Mark Five 1X12 Combo. It was tricky for a while at first to get used to the Mesa, I spent 50 years playing on amps that sounded...

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

I'm getting there. I've got 16 guitar amps, but never had a Mesa. I figured it was time, so I got a MKV head and a MKV combo. I think it's going to be OK. I'm just new with these Mesa Boogie amps. I think I've almost got it. For me the first huge solution was the Variac Power mode and EL34...

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

I have continued to twist the knobs on all the channels. Sorry, still only using the EQ sliders on Channel one, but they've been changed since I posted the pics of the front panel. I'll get new pics posted after the Thanksgiving weekend. We have reacquiring yearly gigs Thanksgiving weekend and...

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

I did try the 45 watt mode and tube rectifier on channel 2. I didn't like it I have continued to twist knobs on all three channels, and it continues to sound better. I'll have to re-post all those pic of the front controls since they've changed somewhat. Also I've tweaked the EQ that's on the...

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

Thanks, I will look into 45 watt mode on channel 2 with rectifier. I have several Power Soaks but stopped using them on Marshall DSL amps because "they" say everything is happening in the preamp section and the power section doesn't yield much "breakup" anyhow. I actually compared the sound...

Mark Five Variac Power and EL34 Power Tubes

Channel 1 is the only channel using the sliders, the other channels use the preset EQ knob. Channel 1 is @ 45W and is the only channel that's not @ 90W. The Master Volume is VERY low, the Solo knob is set, but I don't use it. I run a Line 6 POD HD500 on the FX Loop for Chorus, Delay and Volume...
