    Finished restoring my DC-5

The leather handle itself is from a place called Brettuns Village. It was only like $15 shipped. I had to modify the holes a little, but it's otherwise the correct spacing. The chrome caps and leather corners all came from Mesa.

Need help with resistor values to replace a mix pot

I ended up scrapping this switch. It just wasn't a necessary feature and the switch I had didn't fit too well inside the amp. In case anyone is wondering, fairly linear values correspond fairly well with the pot values. You could use all 6k resistors to achieve what I was after. You just use 3...

    DC effects loop mod

I never found a complete how-to for this and had to figure it out for myself, so here's the deal... At first, I just removed the white wire from the pot and bridged the other two terminals of the pot with a jumper wire. But, as others have described, this caused the amp to go silent if the loop...

Need help with resistor values to replace a mix pot

I have an early DC-5, which has a parallel loop and a mix knob. The mix essentially goes from a 10/90 split to a 90/10 split, but never quite seems to fully bypass or go series at either extreme of the pot. Rather than just converting it to serial (which would be fine), I want to get fancy and...

    Finished restoring my DC-5

For more pictures (or if the link above doesn't work), click here. It was more work than I anticipated, but I think it turned out well. I replaced all the knobs that had chips in them and did the volume output mod while I had the chassis out. One last thing I'm still planning to do is to...

Going to re-tolex early DC-5, need a couple parts...

I thought about doing that, but am trying to keep this limited to a "surface-level" refinish. I'd like to maintain the original layout of the amp if possible.

Going to re-tolex early DC-5, need a couple parts...

I just ordered a TH-18 handle from http://www.brettunsvillage.com. The dimensions on the website appear to be correct. Fingers crossed. Still looking for chrome grommets though. Anyone have any ideas?

Going to re-tolex early DC-5, need a couple parts...

I picked up a used DC-5 a couple years ago, put some fresh tubes in it, and it's been great so far. It was in pretty good shape, but the other night I was bringing it out to my car and passed a little too close to the Christmas tree waiting out on my curb for the garbage pick-up. I put a good...
