    Tung Sol 12AX7 reissue

Wow, didn't expect so much bad news re tung sol tube. There seems to be some positive opinions around (like at tedwebers') so now I'm feeling a little confused. Life is interesting! Thanx peoples.

    Triaxis internal switches

Thank you for the reply fatboy135. My Tiaxis is V2 NON-PHAT model. It's about 10 years old. Trust me, it's not a tube problem. They have all been relaced a couple of times and the problem remains.

    Triaxis internal switches

All LD11 modes (G,Y,R) change over 10 minutes and become thin and a lot less over-driven. They become so trebly (and less mids) that setting the treble and presence controls on 0 (zero) still wont correct the tonal balance. They also lose most of the gain and sound much cleaner. If I select...

    Triaxis internal switches

Anyone know of a good tech who would be capable of repairing/servicing a Triaxis in Australia. Someone who actually knows their stuff.

    TriAxis Breaking Up the Signal

G'day there Cayce I've got a triaxis that is about the same age as yours. Mine has got all sorts of problems. Not the same problems as you mention though. The best advice I could give is to find the best tech you can or send it back to Boogie.

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

Thanks for the info Mr. Wolf. Yes my Triaxis only seems to have this problem in LD11 as well. I did actually give the preamp to the local techs for repair. These guys are the importers/retailers/repairers for Mesa/Boogie in Australia. They couldn't find a problem! They suggested I might like to...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

G'day mcmanus I'm pretty certain it's the Triaxis. Maybe there is a combination thing going on. I noticed that when the Triaxis got thin (and I mean very thin) simply unplugging the signal cable between the Triaxis and the 2:90 restored all the mids. Then over about 5 minutes... thin again...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

The 2:90 has three 12ax7 inside. They stand upright. A couple of screws later and you in! Just don't touch anything except the tubes. Hey mcmanus (c++), let us know what you think of the Mullard 12AT7WA (M8162/CV4024). Reality check for myself. I think I will have to acquire a little stash...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

I'm using just one Mullard 12at7 in pos 2. I haven't tried it elsewhere yet. Having just one in this position does wonders.

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

Ok, I tried out the JJ803s over the last couple of days. Comparison is between Mullard 12AT7WA (M8162/CV4024) and JJ ECC803s (apples and oranges anyone?) in Pos 2 of Triaxis. Guitar is Zion (strat stlye guitar) with Seymour Duncan JB (full humbucker) in bridge. Power amp is simul 2:90...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

G'day T I think we need to get you deliberations up on a web site somewhere. You have too much knowledge to leave it just hanging around in the nebulous and fragmented forum space. I'll host it if you want. Let me know. I think I'll need to talk to you about speakers again in the not too...

    Retubing a TriAxis a 2:90

G'day mcmanus Ok you got me I'm an Australian. Sorry, no sound clips at the moment. My Triaxis needs servicing - noisy resister or somesuch... Sound clips are definitely on my list of things to do. I note that you have a taste for GAIN. I also note that you mentioned getting a full set of JJ...

OOPS That should have read Mullard 12at7 in position 2. Doh!

Timbre Wolf you are a legend. I see you are still busy "evangelising". I'm still smiling over the Mullard 12AT7 in pos 1 in my Triaxis. Can't thank you enough. Rob
