Mesa 5 band graphic eq pedal and the lonestar

Not the cheapest EQ pedal but its a good one! Before the Mesa i had the Boss and MXR EQ pedal but the Mesa doesn't add any hiss or other noise. I'm from the Netherlands btw.

Mesa 5 band graphic eq pedal and the lonestar

I've wrote something about this combination in a topic (link below) about some people finding the Lone Star Drive channel to bassy. I use the 5-band EQ pedal from Mesa with the Lone Star Classic and it works great to sculpture your tone even beyond the EQ possibilities of the Lone Star...

Differences in tone 1x12 vs 2 x12 with LSC. Opinions sought.

The effect is what you hear and feel when you are playing. Imo the LSC benefits from a bigger cab because this amp has very strong low/mids so it can 'breath' more if the cab enclosure is bigger. The fact that you are using open cabs helps for creating this bigger sound with less prominent low...

Lonestar - Clean channel lost power

A Lone Star from 1993? I think you mean 2003 when the first duo-class came out. When using the 50 watt setting the rectifier tube is used so its possible its defective. But when using the 100 watt setting with the silicon diode the amp should work normal because the r-tube is bypassed? On the...

Differences in tone 1x12 vs 2 x12 with LSC. Opinions sought.

You answered your own question already :-) I've got a LSC head and use it with a ported 1x12 (Celestion Redback) if space and weight is an issue and a closed 2x12 (Celestion V30 UK version) if i want to run the amp at its full potential. Besides the open and closed cabs you should decide which...

Lonestar Classic - too much bass on drive channel - SOLUTION

I've read this 'issue' before but when i look at the frequencies within my DAW when playing channel 2 on my LSC i see lots of activity within the low/mid frequency range which you can't dial out with just the LOW or MID EQ knobs on the amp. You can only add more treble to balance it out. Its...

2006 Lonestar -- fan running causes a buzz in the speakers

Only thing which i can think off, maybe one of the preamp tubes is microphonic and picks up the magnetic field from the fan internal parts? Tap with a pencil lightly the preamp tubes to find out if a preamp tube is causing this problem.

    Lonestar + Graphic EQ

EQ might help sculpting your tone. I don't think channel 2 of the LSC is too bassy. Around 9-10 o'clock with medium gain settings it sounds very warm with plenty of definition. I sometimes use the Xotic RC boost to give it a tad more grit with the bass knob rolled back around 11 and the treble...

Lonestar 2.0, will it ever happen?

When the first LoneStar came out there were several updates and revisions over the years, even some minor changes on the second channel. The later added class A - 10 watt setting you may call the LSC Mark II version. Its a classic and going for a 50 watt smaller version would be pointless imo as...

lonestar - loss of volume in clean channel

Yep! Also i don't like Mesa's C90 speakers which come stock with the LSC combo's. A separate cab is your best bet and you can always switch later on if desired.

LSC + Bogner La Grange = OMG!!!!!!!!

After some more experimentation with the Lonestar drive channel 2 and the Bogner La Grange on channel 1 (clean) i came to the conclusion that the Lonestar is capable of getting similar Marshall plexi drive tones like the La Grange with the advantage that the Lonestar is all tube driven goodness...

lonestar - loss of volume in clean channel

Your welcome and good to read you solved the problem! I've got the head version which is not that heavy :-) Great amp indeed!

    Lone Star channel 1 weirdness

Microphonic tubes. Squealing sounds can happen when preamp tubes go bad or if you use to much preamp gain. For the reverb issue the tube should also be replaced for a new one. I would advise to install a new set of fresh preamp tubes.

    Lone Star channel 1 weirdness

Hard to say but most likely! Is it a new amp or do you have it for some years now? I'm asking because if its a new amp you should contact Mesa (warranty) and if you haven't changed tubes lets say the last years it's maybe time for a re-tube.

lonestar - loss of volume in clean channel

Most likely a bad preamp tube! Did you bought the amp new or second hand? If new and not a half year old you should contact Mesa for a new set of tubes!

LSC + Bogner La Grange = OMG!!!!!!!!

Great! I'm using the La Grange for now on channel 1 (clean). I've setup channel 2 of the LSC with a nice warm crunch which comes very close to the La Grange at medium gain settings. I use the LSC 'thick' setting which is described as a 'plexi' setting. It's fun to experiment with this amp and...

LSC + Bogner La Grange = OMG!!!!!!!!

Great, let me know your findings and these settings are a good starting point. Tweak to taste :-) I stack my La Grange mainly with a Seymour Duncan 805 (TS based) or sometimes a Xotic RC Boost. Sounds really nice with a TS based pedal imo.

Can Mark V 35 do Lone star clean??

I've owned the Recto-Verb 25 (2xEL84) and now i have a Lonestar Classic (4X6L6) head version. My personal opinion is that for great bold clean with lots of headroom and using drive from pedals high wattage is always better! The RV25 had great cleans on its own but with pedals it fell short. The...

LSC + Bogner La Grange = OMG!!!!!!!!

Last week i bought a Lonestar Classic head and because i already own a Bogner La Grange i tried your settings. It works great but for my personal taste i use much lower EQ and gain settings on the Lonestar so when using the Bogner with all knobs at 12 o'clock you get a vintage almost 'honest'...

Recto 2x12 V30 super boomy and bassy during recording

I have a Mesa Recto-Verb amp and to me the G12T-75 or G15M-25 (greenbacks) respond alot better to this amp! Also a Scumback H75's sounds amazing to my ears and for recording. I don't like the Mesa V30 cabs in general but that's me. To boomy and not tight sounding in the low end. Swapping...
