    Dc-5 in the shop

Another Dc user without a tube retainer. Similar sounds can be had from the .50 caliber or Nomad. If the tech can't return a working amp I would get the cash equivalent before he disappears.

    nomad mods

Thanks for the mod list Optical. I found that treble peaker to be a critical voicing factor as well. I went with 235k (two 470s in parallel) and 681pf. What did you get from changing that 1M to 220k on V4a? Looks like it will boost the signal working with the other 1M on the grid.

    Still loving my Nomad ...

Did the cap augmentation posted by soundguruman and the amp can deliver considerably more low end punch, where before it just went to mush. Checking other mesa 100 watter schematics I noticed that all of them have two or three times total capacitance on these nodes than the nomad does. It looks...

Nomad gets some great tones, but...

I have a Nomad 100. I've done the stock mods (serial loop, remove the mud caps, etc). This amp has never had the punch or low end solidity of my other Mesa, Marshall or PV heads. Anybody see anything on this schematic that jumps out as odd or possible culprits? The amp is actually very similar...

Nomad 100 head: the EQ cuts only, no boost

Nomad 100 head: the EQ will cut frequencies fine, but there is no boost when you push a slider past the center line. When the EQ switch is engaged, there is a volume drop until the faders are pushed all the way up, then you're back to unity gain. Anyone else ever have this problem? Q1, Q2, Q3...

    nomad mods

Can any techs here explain how the vintage modern switch works on the Nomad? From the schematic it looks like selecting vintage throws another 220k onto the top side of the 100k MV pot, effectively lowering volume. But vintage has a slightly warmer sound as well. Not sure why that happens. link...

    nomad mods

One more mod to try on your Nomads: desolder one of the wires on the presence pot on channels 2 and 3. This circuit is a variable low pass filter that loads down the signal even when the pot is at 100k. I was was very happy with the extra punch I got.

One more very easy Nomad mod to try out.

I clipped the 5000pf cap to kill the low pass filter after the loop. Loved it - huge improvement. Looking at the schematic I noticed that the presence controls on ch 2 and 3 are not traditional presence controls, but rather variable low pass filters on the treble wiper after the tone stack...
