Accidentally nailed the Metallica clean tone from "One".

Yeah, it was pretty exclusively a Jazz Chorus that would be used to record clean parts on Metallica albums, all the way up to the Load albums. See here for an example: http://youtu.be/1qPQYt8i45Y It's not played very well but the point gets across as a demonstration of the sound in it's proper...

Interesting Observation Regarding My Mark II Graphic EQ

Technically, the basic design of the graphic EQ circuit hasn't changed much since it's introduction until very recently. Those results you shared are very interesting though; it would explain why the normal inclination for most people is to turn down the 750Hz, though there are notable exceptions.

I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC+...

Awesome, thanks! So that potentially makes another 1500 IIC+'s out there... I aught to talk to the dude with the IIC I worked on and convince him to become one of the 'converted'. BTW, can this mod be done by just sending out the preamp PCB? Actually, I know it is possible to be done...

I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC+...

Am I right in that the total number of MarkII's came to approximately 14500 ? Or does this include the Mark I serial numbers as well? Still, 2,000 in comparison to either is pretty small. Like you said chipaudette, Mesa was still very much a boutique company at this point; in fact with that...

I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC+...

That's still a drop in the bucket in comparison to all the other Marks I'm assuming? What I was saying is that by all indications it seems as those boards took a while to assemble, though you guys were seasoned vets even by that point so I'm sure it took less time than it will be for me to...

I've come to an interesting conclusion about the MarkIIC+...

First off, I just want to say this is a great forum and I have found it to be an invaluable resource to all things Boogie. I am not technically the owner of anything Boogie at the moment, except for the entire set of internals to a Quad preamp. This was found many years ago at the practice spot...

    Mark III Mod

Yeah, those 80's Boogies are a thing of beauty when in the right hands; that's why I joined this forum, I am a huge admirer of the MarkII-III era.

    Mark III Mod

Yeah, it is the 100-180pF cap that is on the switch on the back of the first volume pot if that's the one your talking about. Technically this value of cap isn't very big in comparison to many other designs (Old Marshalls have a 5000pF cap here), so increasing it or lowering it's value won't...

Hi, New here... I got a cool front end bass reduction mod...

I was giving some thought on how to cater this mod to the Mark III as I don't believe there would be too many people willing to mod anything on their MarkIIC's never mind an actual IIC+, lol! Would this mod make sense to you if it were to be active when the treble shift is pulled? The idea on...

Hi, New here... I got a cool front end bass reduction mod...

Hi everybody, as the title indicates I'm new here although I've lurked around here for a while as this forum is an excellent resource for all things Boogie, especially for the Mark series amps. Anyways, I came up with a mod recently that I'd like to share with you all. This mod is designed for...
