Mesa Mark 4 Output Tranny swap ?

I'm thinking of swapping out my Mark 4 output transformer for a transformer that also has a 16 Ohm speaker out tap. I hate using impedance mismatches as the amp gets duller and muddy. I'm not bothered about resale value as I will be keeping this amp until the day it dies. I make no compromises...

Disconnecting a Mk IV's recording out

Hey guys, I've seen people many times comment on here mentioning that the recording outs on the Studio & Quad preamps load the tone/signal and muffle things up a bit. Many recommended to either run from the Fx send on the studio/quad or disconnect the recording outs.... Would the mark iv also...

    Studio Preamp Mod confusion

Hey guys, basically I took my Studio preamp to my tech to have the 2c+, Bass shift and pull deep mods and he performed them for me. However, he was reluctant to change the input grid 1M resistor to 680k as he says this lowers the input impedance of the preamp. I asked him to follow the mod...

A word on the build quality of Tri and 2:90...

Haha the only thing you have to worry about now is the stupid plastic header on the 2:90 PCB melting and thus killing your amp !! Mine and a few other guys here has already blown and overheated so weve had to remove it and solder the wires directly to the board. Just a heads up because it is...

    Mesa 2:90 help

My mesa 2:90 suffered the burnt filament plastic header problem on the PCB. I have taken mesa's advice and removed the header and soldered the wires directly to the main board. The amp is now working again which I'm happy with BUT I have noticed that the 4 power tubes on the RIGHT side are very...

Simul Class 395 Vs 2:90 power amp

half drive sucks. Use the regular 90 watt mode, with Modern mode (for high gain), Or deep mode for ultra clean. The 2:90 is an AMAZING power amp. You have nothing to worry about !

    2:90 broken ! Help....

I was playing for an hour and a half last night and all of a sudden my sound just disappeared. There was no pop or bad noises, it just went quiet. I'm not sure if it's my Power tubes, transformer, caps etc.... The amp is still turning on and lighting up/humming and the fan is running... Just no...
