    New Mark 5 35 - some issues

Try using the solo control for volume. Turn the channel master up further. Turn the channel solo all the way off. Click the solo for the channel on. Use the solo knob to adjust volume. Should give you more flexibility. Len

Anyone got their hands on a Mark V 35 yet?

I just picked up the Mark V:35 head. So far I love it! It's replacing a 5:50 express 1x12 combo and a 5:25 express plus head- downsizing a bit. It's definitely better than those amps, although I wish it had foot switchable reverb and reverb controls on the front. Nevertheless it sounds...

Finally got one...now i want more

Lonestar, or maybe the 5:25 Plus. Maybe you can find one used?

    Noisy gain channels on 5:25

Without hearing it- it may be normal. Tube amp, distortion channels, high gain- you are gonna get noise.

    Express 5:25+ woes

Go with the classic Mesa V on the EQ and see what you think.

    Express 5:25+ woes

Sounds almost like you just need more power. Maybe the 5:50 Plus? Either that or keep experimenting with the EQ.

    Alternative for 5:25 classic footswitch

I use a Black Magic replacement footswitch for my 5:50 Express. Very nice; don't know if they ship overseas. http://blackmagicswitches.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=25

Extension Cabs for Express 5:50 PLUS

    I have a Dr. Z 2 x 12 with my 5:25 Plus head. Great cabinet!

    Express 5:50+ ....nothing but issues

I would contact Mesa and just send it back to them. One time when I was having issues with my 5:25 plus I shipped it back to them. I asked why not just go to a local authorized place, and the Mesa guy said he didn't trust most of those places! I sent the head back to them after that!

No channel switch....unless Reverb is active

The reverb is tube driven so it is always worth it to check that. See is any of the tubes are bad or not seated properly. The switching problem could be a bad MIDI cable, a bad footswitch, or a loose MIDI connection. It's not a standard MIDI cable so its not likely that you have a replacement...

    Express 5:50 vs 5:50 plus

No. The EQ is definitely more powerful then the contour knob. But in a lot of gig situations the tonal subtleties get lost anyway. The contour knob is still useful for a little boost or tonal change.

    Express 5:50 vs 5:50 plus

I have had the same thoughts. My vote is for the non-plus for a grab and go. I have both a non-plus 5:50 combo, and a 5:25 plus head and cabinet. I really like the features on the Plus. I gave serious thought to upgrading my 5:50 to a plus. After taking the 5:50 on a few gigs I decided...

    Preamp tubes for 5:50 question

Actually, I have decided that it is more in the speaker cab- maybe gonna get a bassman 4x10. Thanks anyway though!

    Mesa Express 5:50 Combo to 4 X 12 Cab

Unplug the mesa speaker. Get a speaker cable. Plug the 8 ohm output on the Mesa to the 8 ohm input on the speaker cab. That should do it.

    5 25 Express died

Tubes very likely the culprit then. Simple fix. I'd retube the whole amp if you can, then test the old tubes and keep the good ones as spares.

    5 25 Express died

Is it getting power? If not could be fuse. Simple fix.

    Preamp tubes for 5:50 question

Any suggestions on preamp tubes if wanted to get more of a fender bassman kind of tone out of the clean channel on my non- plus 5:50? What's in there now is just the stock mesa 12ax7. Thanks!

    Which Mesa to Get

Might want to try the Electra-Dyne if you can find one. A discontinued model, but it was designed as a kind of higher powered vintage style amp.

    5:50 Express + - Cab or Combo?

Most people feel that separate head and cab is better. Better sound and the amp components are better protected from vibration from the speaker. It's only more flexible in terms of locating the two things in different places. When I am recording I like doing things like putting the cab in the...
