Yes the on board EQ is dependent on what you are playing too. Me, mostly single coil a and mid and bass at around 1 o'clock fattens it up. Burn on 9 is my "Dumble" setting. Fine tune the gain to taste.

I use the burn channel at about 9 on the gain with contour on about 1 - 2 oclock, T maybe 11 ocock mid bass about 1 oclock. Original Vintage 30 that has been broken in.

Well maybe the price point versus the competition in the market they were going after although to me it's a great price for a Mesa. The last band I was in about the third practice the other guitar player shows up with one saying he just loved the tone I was getting so much he had to get one.

You could put a volume box or a volume pedal in the effects loop. It can only cut volume so you'd set the two masters higher than normal then dial back with the volume box/pedal to a home level and up when more overall/both channel volume needed. I just adjust both for the venue.

Can't imagine why that would fry the power amp and why the other channel would still work if it did.
