    Mark V:35 Review and thoughts

I just got myself the Mark V:35 Combo and my wife helped pay toward a PRS 408 as an early Christmas gift. What an amazing setup! I've played through various Mesa Rectifier heads over the years. I currently also have a Roadster head, which I plan on selling at some point after using the Mark V:35...

Mark V:35 humming that comes and goes

It's strange, but so far the hum hasn't come back. So, to summarize, it hummed, then it smelled like something got VERY hot, and now everything is just fine... odd. I ordered a spare set of tubes that I suppose I'll just swap out at the next sign of failure. With my luck, the issue probably...

Mark V:35 humming that comes and goes

Hello, I just bought a used Mark V:35. It arrived yesterday and I played for about 30 minutes or so without an issue. Eventually though, an annoying "hum" just swelled up out of nowhere. It was about the same volume as my guitar, so I couldn't really use the amp while it was going on. After...

Multi-Watt. OK to change while amp is on?

Hello, This may be a dumb question, but is it OK to change up the Multi-Watt selection while the amp is turned on? I just got a Mark V:35 and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to hurt anything by swapping between 35, 25, and 10 watts while the amp was on. I don't know WHY this would...

Run a Roadster with only 2 6L6 tubes

Ok thanks. For some reason I recall hearing these heads could run without some of the tubes if they went bad in the middle of a gig of something. I believe I heard that back when I owned my Triple Rectifier. Oh well, glad I never tried it then I guess!

Run a Roadster with only 2 6L6 tubes

Hello, I just have a few questions that I wanted to clear up because I'm getting some conflicting information from a local "Mesa certified repair center" that is telling me my 6L6 tubes can only be replaced in a "quad set." It's possible to run a Mesa Roadster with only 1 matched pair of 6L6s...

Single Recto & Stiletto Deuce A/B/Y

I used a Radial Headbone for years and I can tell you that it worked out very well for me. I was running a Triple Rectifier alongside a MusicMan HD130 into a 4x12 Recto Cab. I left the Headbone hooked up back near my heads and just ran an external 1-button footswitch out near the front of the...

Roadster headaches. Would Power conditioner help?

Thanks for the power conditioner input. I have one ordered for when I get it back it back from the repair center. I have to say though, I wish that I had just sent my head directly to Mesa. The repair center is telling me all I have is 1 bad 6L6 and a bad reverb tank. And the price to repair...

Best inexpensive hot plate / attenuator (or, volume pedal?)

Thanks a lot for the reply Dom! Maybe I'll give the EQ a try. The "roadster practice amp" scenario is exactly what I had in mind. Haha.

Best inexpensive hot plate / attenuator (or, volume pedal?)

Hi there. Any suggestions for the best inexpensive hot plate / attenuator to use with my Roadster? I see a lot of them range from $400 to $1000 easily. At that price point, it might be just as effective to just buy a lower-wattage head or combo. I was looking at the JHS Little Black Amp Box...

    Mark V:25 vs Mark V:35

That's an excellent point. However, I feel like at 95% of the gigs in my area the PA is pretty sad and can barely handle vocals. (Not a big area for music, if you can't tell already.) It's so bad that we generally opt to lug along a couple of our own powered 15" PA speakers as a "backup plan"...

Roadster headaches. Would Power conditioner help?

I think you're right about the crackling being part of the reverb circuit because I actually powered it up Friday night and had planned on testing some tubes but the crackling AND reverb were gone again. Last night I finally just said "enough is enough" and made the 90min drive to the nearest...

Roadster headaches. Would Power conditioner help?

I did buy used unfortunately, so your suggestion on it's previous life may very well be correct. I suppose if things continue this way maybe I'll have to drop it off with a tech. Thanks for the reply!

    Mark V:25 vs Mark V:35

Thanks for the input. I've been leaning toward 35 as well, but I haven't gotten to play through them yet. No dealers very close to me. I think myself and buddy are going to take a road trip in a week or two to a store that (currently) has them both in stock.

    Mark V:25 vs Mark V:35

I'm in the market for one of these heads... 25 watt vs 35 watt... any opinions? I used to play out frequently with my band but these days I'm more-so stuck playing in the house. That being said, full-band stuff MIGHT still happen again from time to time and I want to make sure my head can...

    Mesa Roadster Head - $1200

Mesa Roadster Head for sale. $1200. Pretty firm on price, but if you're interested we can deal. I can ship, but buyer pays shipping fees. We can work together to figure out those costs depending on where you live. I'll drive up to 1hr or so to meet you if you're not too far away. I also have...

Roadster headaches. Would Power conditioner help?

Just a little background on what I've been going through: My previous "rig" was a Triple Rec and Music Man HD-130. I used this for about a decade and didn't have many issues. Replaced a tube here of course and there but nothing major. Fast-forward to the Roadster head... I sold those other 2...

    Roadster Reverb Issue

UPDATE: I just remembered I owned another cheapo multimeter so I gave it a shot too and it's doing the exact same thing. When testing the output cable, readings are jumping around like 1... 140... 1.... 185... 1.... 190.... 1.... 155. I wish I had another "known good" reverb tank to try...

    Roadster Reverb Issue

Additionally, I did recently buy 4 new 12AX7s. Even though the current tubes tested "good", I tried swapping them out with various positions in the head and it made no difference. I made a point to replace V1 (input stage) and V4 (reverb). :(

    Roadster Reverb Issue

Hello, Thanks for the tip Authorized Boogie. Maybe you're the same Mesa Boogie tech that emailed me with similar information. I apologize for my late response. I just got around to grabbing my multimeter and testing this out. I’m a bit of a novice with amp repairs and the use of a...
